Sound does not work

Try going to with the Creative sound mixer or the windows sound mixer to check if by any chance the output is muted. Also I believe that this is quite an old card so maybe with newer versions of windows it might run into driver problems. If I remember rightly on this card there was an option to choose between digital or analogue output most probably you have it set on digital. You need to go through the sound card settings in the software that came with it and change that setting to analogue.

I recently updated my Creative Sound Blaster Xtreme Audio Card and RealTek HDMI Audio Output drivers, and now it seems they won't work with each other. I cannot get sound on my computer.

sound blaster cards are known problem makers they don't play well with others go to start-controll panel-system-hardware-device manager and find your realtek hdmi and disable it its eather 1 or the other you cant have both. sorry

If you have installed any Windows XP applications for your Sound Blaster X-Fi card, it is recommended that you uninstall these (Windows XP) applications before installing the Sound Blaster X-Fi Vista Installation CD.
