34700z only charges about .5 lbs to 1.0lbs, asks to start engine to help draw freon in. still won't charge any more. where should i start

The machine requires a min amout of 6lbs to even charge. but if you are showing any amout charging it is not the machine its self. you are looking at may be bad hoses or couplers. it is common in the winter months to have charge issues if the unit is not above 70 degrees F. dont forget there are cars/trucks out there that no matter how hard you try you can not complete a charge on the high side and you must switch over to a low side charge

My 34700z will tell me i have 2 or 3 lbs of freon but when i try to charge even 1/2 it will say insuffecent. how do i reset the machine to get a true reading? thanks

Your machine sound like normal to me! For charging to the vehical you should have minimum 3.30 lbs of refrigerant on ISV tank. However if you wish to re-calibrate the scal, please check with my other solution where i post detail information about scale calibration.
I wish this will help you to solve the problem.

You can do the following :
1# Rebuild/Replace ''charge'' solenoid.
2# Check ''recover'' solenoid is working properly. Repair as need. If recover solenoid is OK, Then you may have to replace the "Compressor".
I hope this will help you to rectify the problem. If so, please vote for solution. Best of Luck!
