Excellent, thank you. That agrees with the color code as I remember it. I lost the original resistor but had read the color code before and wasn't sure if I remembered it correctly. Thank you veru much Daniel

Hi

You'll need to use a 15K ohm ±20% 2-Watt resistor with 88-108 MFD 250 volt capacitor on Coleman Airconditioner. The previous discharge resistor can also be used fir reconfirming the value. If the previous resistor is still with you then please tell me the color coding on that resistor.

Please post back for any further assistance. If you are satisfied please do accept the solution.

check the capacitor and its value and type. i havent see the equipment but knows about capacitors etc
it usually comes in values like 0.01 2.0022 and so on and higher value like 1 mfd to couple of thousand mfd.you shouls use the same value and the voltage for the replacement one has to be same or more in voltage since higher voltage is no harm but lower voltage will explode or burn in electrical appliances it is used as filters to block spark in the carbon or starting capacitor thich helps to run the motor if it is built to run with a starting capacitor like the one used in water pumps or electrical ceiling fans.

What start capacitor is used on the Trane XE1100 air conditioner

There is NO START capacitor on your unit. There is a RUN capacitor and one place said it is a 30 mfd / 5 mfd at 440 volt. These are an oil filled capacitor with both a 5 mfd section for the fan and a 30 mfd forthe compressor. Find a part number on it and search Ebay... that is where I got mine..

My coleman furnace in my rv just quit blowing it stays lit but the blower doesnt work it is a coleman presidential

It could be a bad temp sensor that tells the fan to come on when the heater reaches a certain temperature or it could be a bad fan motor. Take a 12 volt jump start box and hook it directly to the fan motor to see if it will spin. If it does not the motor is bad and if it does you have to replace the temperature sensor in the heater.

How do I test the capacitor of an Airconditioner that is in series with the compressor , also would another value work as the 35uf one is hard to find where 30 or 40 are availiable Thanks Eldred

You have to have a capacitance checker. It comes on a few volt meters. It will have the Mfd symbol or uf all you have to do is set the meter to capacitance and put both leads onto the capacitor (with nothing else attached) and the meter will increase up to to a near stopping point within 10% of the rating of 35uf. so if it reads 32-38 its good. New capacitors are cheap and available at any HVAC supply store. They should have the exact one you need or guide you to which one is an acceptable substitute just bring the old one with you. I believe the recomendation is within 10-15% so 40uf would be ok. but check with the store just to be sure. It will run $7-22 depending where you go.

Formula to calculate rating of capacitors in airconditioners

It's not fixed formula, but as per basic rule, easy method tocalculate for motor capacitor. (2650 X full load amps) divided by supply voltage(mentionedin capacitor)= MFD. (Plus or minus 10% to 15%) Ex: 1 Tr which gives full load amps of 6 amps (2650 X 6)=15900 divided by 240(VAC)volts=66.25MFD (10% to 15% plus or minus) You can fix 56.32 mfd or 76.18mfd So, you can go in between 56.32 mfd and 76.18 mfd. If you calculate of 440VAC capacitor, it will be 36 mfd. Hope, it will be helpful . Thanks.

If your lcd comes with ac adapter open this and check for blown or bulge capacitors, replace this with same value.

If your monitor comes with plug cable, open your monitor (too risky to do it by yourself) check the power supply section, check and replace blown and bulge caps.

In my case I found a capacitor on the 9 volt motor control board blown open. It was rated for 250 v but no mfd rating. I called the 877-207-0923 option 4 number. The GE toaster is warrantyed for 2 years. I was able to exchange it for a newer model at the same price today. The new one checks out just dandy.

Makita Generator no power

Hi Laurence,
Hope you had as good a holiday as I did :-)
Yes the squareish thing in there is a kind of voltage regulator. More correctly, your brushless generator is using this capacitor to regulate output voltage by means of a resonant circuit between a winding on the stator and this part. The short answer is that you more than likely need a new one and because of its particular shape the only realistic source of the new one is Makita.

I disagree with the service tech about the testability of the thing, my Fluke 112 DMM has a capacitance function that would let me tell if your capacitor was shorted ( 0 mfd reading), open (infinate mfd reading), or some value that could be compared to whatever "known" one was applicable. In this case I'd take a loose guess that the reading of a good one is something like 20 - 100 mfd, but that's just a guess.

let me know if the new capacitor doesn't get it,
Carl
