The tv turns on and digital tv comes up on the bottom of the screen, and then it shuts itself off by itself. We have unplugged it for a few minutes to try to reset, but it continues to do the same thing?

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

Magnavox television won't stay on

I know this is going to sound strange but I have something to check. If you have LED lights in your house turn them all off. When they are off turn on your TV and see if your TV stays on. Yes, there could be many problems but this one is cropping up quite a bit. If this does not work then you need to take a look at the power supply board.

My Magnavox digital converter box shuts itself off every 5 minute

Check that you have not got an auto power off setting on. Check that the aerial connections are good. That the signal is strong from the stations it is picking up. Weak signals can cause the box to shut down.
It the box is very hot when it shuts down, you might have a fault on it.

Tv cuts off and green light flashes

Yup, it seems a lamp problem can give a blinking green light over the 10 times (1 - 10 times for diagnostic codes), but in my case rather than replace the bulb if it works for a minute then resets with the green light blinking, do what I did.
Take the lamp out and inspect it, it has breather screens top and bottom, if it cant breath because there clogged with dust, clean them, and you can remove the screens, use q-tips and clean the inside. I saved the cost of a lamp and it's working fine!

TV turns off

Sounds like a bad solder connection on power supply board. Remove the back, turn on the set, using the handle of a screwdriver tap the power supply board and see if it shuts down. The power board is the one attached to the power cord. If it does shut down, UNPLUG the set, remove the power supply, inspect the bottom of the board and look at all solder connections with a magnifing glass. Look for any dark rings around solder connections, and resolder with fluxed 60/40 solder. [email protected]
