Question about Poulan "Poulan" Push Mower

1 Answer

I just bought a Poulan PR550N21RH3 Rotary Lawn Mower. The first time I used it it worked fine. While I was mowing the second time I heard a big "POP" then it began to shimmy. What should I do?

Check the blade to make sure its on securely and isnt bent or broken.

If something went wrong other than blade damage I would take it back and ask for a replacement.

I hit rocks with my lawn mower on accident, and now it will run for a few seconds and turn off

This happens often. Sometimes your mower will start and run again and sometimes it won't. When it doesn't run it's because your timing is off, caused by a dented or sheared key.
To replace remove top cover to engine, and any other side attachments, this should expose the flywheel. Remove the top bolt and look between flywheel and top of crankshaft, you will see a small square notch. This is where the shear key is placed. Remove the flywheel and replace the shear key. Replace all parts in reverse order and you should be mowing again. GOOD LUCK.

The engine is not started

Hi.
Check the blade... it is bent and causes a vibration. if it is not the blade then the motor shaft is bent and that is terminal...if that happened then the mower is junk...

LOOKING FORWARD TO PURCHASING A POULAN RIDING LAWNMOWER. AS A FEMAALE I AM A BIT APPREHENSIVE ABOUT A RIDING LAWN MOWER. I HAVE USED A SELF-PROPELLED FOR ABOUT 30 YEARS. AM I MAKING A GOOD CHOICE?

If you like driving cars, riding 4 wheelers, or just plain love the outdoors, the a rider is definately the way to go! Everyone loves the joy of a riding mower no matter what age. You will definately will fall in love with cutting your lawn. Use the rider for the big stuff and push mow the little hard to get places.

Carburetor adjustment

it would be a lot easier if you take the cover off the top of lawn mower.
find the carb, it usually sits near gas tank, there should be a screw sticking out of it. tighten until it runs normal. also adjust the air intake/ throttle arm on carb
