Top tension issues with a Pfaff quilt expression 4.2 bubbles in back. Was sewing and then didn't sound normal. How do I fix this?

FWIW, thread messes under the fabric are usually a top thread issue.

Make sure you are using a brand new needle.
Remove the top thread from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning.
Verify the thread path is correct,.

I have a pfaff expression 4.0 and can’t find how to change the tension

This machine has an electronic thread tension control. You'll only be able to adjust the tension for the current stitch, until you turn off the machine or change your stitch selection. Press the Setting button and use the Up/Down arrows on the wheel to get the move the setting selection box on the Thread tension line, if needed. Use the Left/Right arrows on the wheel to increase or decrease the tension. Press OK (the center of the wheel) to save this tension. Test the tension on a scrap of your project and repeat the steps until the thread tension is appropriate for the project. Press Info when in the sewing mode to see the current thread tension.

The manual for the Pfaff Quilt Expression 4.0 (and a couple of other models in the Expression line) is available from Pfaff here: . See page 2:16 (page 28 of the PDF) for the details. Pages 2:10-2:11 show the buttons for the Expression 4.0.

I hope this helps.

Pfaff expression thread broke half way through button hole. How do I complete the buttonhole?

1. Change thread/needle.
2. If the bottom stitch is loose then tighten the top tension. If the bottom appears to be too tight then loosen the top tension.
3. It may help to put the feed dogs down also.

Having a problem with bobbin thread showing through while trying to embroider on my pfaff 7570

Usually, slightly tightening the bobbin thread, and/or loosening the top thread solves this problem. Make sure there is no fluff in the bobbin area, clean and oil regularly. Experiment with these tension adjustments and make a note of what you did and what works.

How to adjust lower tension on pfaff hobby 370

On the bobbin case is a screw. Mark the case with a tiny dab of nail polish and the edge of the screw. This will tell you where you began.

Turn the screw: right to tighten and left to loosen.

This is an adjustment that is usually not needed unless you are changing the weight of the thread being used on the bobbin.

Tension Problem on Pfaff 2034, bobbin loops

Rule of thumb.. Loops on the bottom, problem on the top. Loops on the top, problems on the bottom.

Set your upper tension at 4, and rethread the machine from the top. Just before you thread the needle, but the presser foot down. If the thread pulls right thru easily, then the thread is not thru the tension wheel right. Because, if you can't pull the thread thru with the presser foot down, you have it threaded right.
