Question about AT&T E2562 Cordless Phone

Caller ID not working correctly on AT&T E2562 after getting VoIP

I have an AT&T E2562 two line telephone. I subscribed to AT&T service on both lines and the caller id for both lines worked fine. I just subscribed to an Internet based phone service, Ring Central, and I purchased VoIP phone adapter, Linksys Sipura SPA-2102. I hooked up the Internet line onto line 2 and left the AT&T line hooked up to line 1. With this set up, the caller id no longer functions on either line. I tried each service independently on line 1 & 2 and the caller id worked but it will not work when both lines are in simultaneously. I also tried switching the lines so that the AT&T line came in on line 2 and the Ring Central line came in on line 1, this helped in that I will get caller id information on line 1 with the VoIP line but I still do not get caller id on line 2 (the AT&T line). I also noticed that when each line is connected independently and I receive a call from a cell phone there is a difference. With AT&T connected: where the caller id would normally show the persons name, I see "Wireless Caller" and below that is the phone number the person is calling from (310) 555-1212 (this is what I am used to seeing) but with the Ring Central line, where the caller id would normally show the persons name or in this case "Wireless Caller", instead, I see the ten digit phone number "3105551212" and below that is the phone number the person is calling from (310) 555-1212. I only mention this observation in case in can help diagnose the problem. I would appreciate any help in getting the caller id working on both lines.

Hi you should check the phone setting to see if its correct,if the settings are not right the phones will not not function the right way.

Ann also check with your telephone line provider for the land line calls that the subscribed service has been activated that forwards the calling line identity to your land phone line. Could be it somehow has become lost accidentally by the phone company.

It would be worth them checking it has not fallen off your subscriber settings to eliminate it as a possible cause)

Why is caller id not working on phone after switching to AT&T uverse internet and phone?


Do they offer caller ID with that type of service? If so they should be able to fix that for you. You are now VOIP and not real sure how caller ID works behind that. There is a data burst sent after 1 ring on regular telephone service..

* Caller ID and POP features work only if you subscribe to the service provided by your local telephone company. There is usually a fee for this service.
You need to call your phone line company to activate the Caller ID.

How do you display caller name and not just telephone number


Caller ID (caller identification, CID), also called calling line identification (CLID) or calling number identification (CNID), is a telephone service, available in analog and digital phone systems and most Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) applications, that transmits a caller's number to the called party's telephone equipment during the ringing signal, or when the call is being set up but before the call is answered. Where available, caller ID can also provide a name associated with the calling telephone number. The information made available to the called party may be displayed on a telephone's display or on a separately attached device.

Caller ID with Call Waiting is available by subscription from your Telephone provider. With this service, you will be able to view incoming caller information while on a call with another user.

This will allow you the ability to select to talk to this user and put your existing party on hold or make the decision to ring them back.

But, you must contact your Telephone provider and subscribe to the service.

Remember, If you subscribe to Caller ID from your phone company, your phone will show you the caller's phone number and name (if available) whenever a call comes in. If you subscribe to both Call Waiting and Caller ID, the phone also shows you the name and the number of any call that comes in while you're on the line.

No caller ID. TP company says I have service.


  • Did you fully charge your phone? - Make sure you fully charge for 16-24 hours .

  • Is the battery old? - Replace the battery.

  • Is the electrical outlet switch turned on? - If you are using AC (electrical) power, make sure that the unit is connected to a non-switched electrical outlet.

  • Are the connecting wires tight - Unplug the AC power converter from the unit and plug it back in.

  • Do you have Caller ID service with your telephone company - In order to receive Caller ID records, you must subscribe to the standard name and number Caller ID service available through your local telephone company. If the Caller ID works for normal calls but not on Call waiting calls, then you must contact your phone company to get the combined CID/CW service.

  • Caller ID shows up after second ring - Be sure to wait until the second ring before answering. Caller ID signals comes through after the first ring, if caller pick ups phone too soon Caller ID signal will not be transmitted to the handset.

  • Confirm that caller ID is still working on that particular line by checking another phone on the same line - If Caller ID is not coming through contact your phone company provider.

Please download this manual, and study e.g on page 21 About caller ID If you subscribe to caller ID service from your local telephone company, this feature displays the name and telephone number of the caller before answering a call (even when you are on another call). The caller ID features of this product will work only if you subscribe to caller ID service and both you and the caller are in areas offering caller ID service, and if both telephone companies use compatible equipment. Contact your local telephone company if: • you have both caller ID and call waiting, but as separate services (you may need combined service), • you have only caller ID service, or only call waiting service, • you do not subscribe to caller ID or call waiting services but wish to try them. There may be fees for these services, and they may not be available in all areas. This product can be used without subscribing to either caller ID or combined caller ID with call waiting service, although the caller ID features of this product will not function.

Caller ID and Call Waiting ID are subscription services, available from most local telephone service providers. You must subscribe to these services in order for the features to work on your phone. Contact your local telephone service provider for more information.

In addition, your caller must be calling from an area that supports caller ID.

Both you and your caller’s telephone service provider must use compatible caller ID systems.

If you subscribe to DSL service for this telephone line, DSL filters must be plugged into EVERY phone jack that has a phone. The DSL signal can cause caller ID disruption, static, noise and other issues on your line. DSL filters block the high frequency DSL signals from being transmitted to the telephone. If you are not using the DSL filters provided by the telephone company, this will cause static/noise and possibly caller id issues on your phones.

In most cases, we recommend you connect the plug end of the DSL filter into the telephone jack, then connect a telephone cord between the filter and your phone.

Please contact your service provider to obtain DSL filters and installation information.

Caller ID and Call Waiting ID may not be available for every call. Common reasons are incompatibilities between your and your caller’s service, transmission errors and answering calls before the ID data is received.

No caller ID displayed


If you have digital telephone with cable. First thing you should do is contact the billing department of your service provider. Make sure you are in billing for caller id. If you are let them know you are not receiving service you are paying for. Have them check your number in the switch. Which is the system that allocates each call that is made to and from your number. If this feature is not activated properly in the switch you might be paying for a service that is not properly activated. If all is correct with service provider. Try using another phone that has the caller id feature just to make sure it's not the actual phone. If both phones still doesn't display caller id. You should have your service provider send out a technician to troubleshoot your home telephone lines to make sure all phone jacks and telephone lines are secure and corrosion free, and have them verify service while there. You should also ask about a credit for the time the service was activated until the time the service actually worked.

They state that if you have further problems, to contact customer support at 1-800-595-9511. Also, who is your phone service provider? And who is the manufacture of the old phone?
