Question about Kodak ESP 5 Printer

1 Answer

My Kodak ESP5 is reporting that maintenance cannot be carried out because the printer may be busy, which it is not. The cyan ink is not getting through properly and I think I may need to buy another print head. Where can I get one and why do you think the maintenance function is blocked? Is there a print queue somewhere that I can access so as to delete whatever might be causing the printer to be busy? Many thanks, Alan G.

On this page it says to make sure you update your printer with the latest software and firmware updates.

I would also, unplug for 30 sec. and replug the printer in to power to reset it.

I would get a cyan ink cartridge from Walmart or another retailer.

Usually, there is a print queue with an icon on the bottom bar of Windows when there are pending documents.

Good luck on this repair.

You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the printthen a new print head is required.
A new print head maybe expensive and it maybe more cost effective to purchase anew printer.

How to remove the ink cartilidge

How do I install a new printhead in my all-in-one printer? To replace the printhead in your all-in-one printer:
  1. Make sure the printer is on.
  2. Lift the printer access door and wait for the carriage to move to the access position.

NOTE: For ESP 3250 and ESP 5250 all-in-one printers:
    • On the printer control panel, press Home.
    • Select Maintenance, then press OK.
    • Select Install Ink Cartridges, then press OK.
If "Install Ink Cartridges" is not an available selection, upgrade the firmware.

  3. Remove any paper that may be loaded in the printer.
  4. Remove the black and color ink cartridges and set them aside.
  5. Remove the existing printhead:
    • For ESP Series Printers, unlatch the printhead by lifting the latch in the center of the carriage.

  7. Remove the new printhead from its bag.

  8. Remove the plastic protective shields.
  9. Place the new printhead into the carriage.

  10. Push firmly against the target label of the printhead until you hear a loud snap.

  12. Insert the black ink cartridge into the printhead and press down until you hear it click into place.
  13. Close the printer access door.

The printer detects the new printhead. Follow the instructions on the LCD to calibrate your printer.
NOTE: ESP 3 all-in-one printers do not require calibration.

Our kodak ESP5 wont print properly. We have installed new ink (a number of times now) but the ink is still very faded when printed. fed up of having to buy ink and still wont print out dark.

Sounds like print head needs replacing, try the troubleshooting guide on Kodak website to confirm, appears to be a common problem with these Kodak printers, if new it should be covered under warrenty although if not they are expensive
