How do I turn on the Wireless Adapter on a Lenovo W500?

Look on both sides and in front of the laptop for the switch. Once you turn the switch on you can also control the wireless by keystrokes. Normally you Press and Hold the FN function key located at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit the correct key F1 thru F12 that controls the wireless. The correct key to hit will have the wireless signal icon )))) on it. Or it might have the icon of a tower with the wireless signal )))) on it. When you toggle the wireless by keystrokes the display screen might show Wireless On or Wireless Off.

Cannot connect to wireless internet unless cable is pluged into the computer.

Hi sarah_ramroo,

Unable to connect to the internet through wireless connection is caused by several reasons. I'll be giving you the three most common reasons why you cannot connect on your Lenovo G550 Notebook. Below are the possible causes and some troubleshooting that will help you address the issue:

  • Physical switch is OFF - It is located at the front side of your computer. Make sure that it is toggled to the right.
  • Press Fn + F5 to activate the wireless.
  • Uninstall Lenovo ReadyComm from your laptop. Here's how:
  1. Go to Control Panel.
  2. Then click on Programs and Features.
  3. Look for Lenov Ready Comm. Right click on iy and select uninstall.
  4. After uninstalling, restart your computer.
You should be able to connect now through wireless. Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Wireless radio on Lenovo Y510 turned off even though the slider switch is switched on and lights up. How can I turn on wireless radio?

Hi There and Welcome to Fixya!

Another way to turn on the wireless radio on your Lenovo Y510 is to press and hold the "Fn" key, then simultaneously press the "F5" key.

This is an alternative way to switch the wireless antenna on or off without using the physical WIFI switch.

Hope this helps,

Thank you for using FixYa.

Reg: WIFI drivers not getting installed

You need to check first if the wireless switch is turn on.If it is on, check the function key for the wireless. Some computers have function key. Sometimes it is combination of fn and f5. Press those keys at the same time and you should see a pop up window and check if the current status is on. If it is on, uninstall/reinstall the wireless driver in device manager. go to programs and features and look for lenovo readycom, uninstall the software and restart your computer. If this didn't work. You need to do re installation of your operating system.

Cannot turn on wireless radio on Lenovo Idealpad

Press FN+F5 button together on the keyboard to have the settings for display pops up on the screen. Check if the radio button was turned on both for wireless and bluetooth connection. If the radio button was off, just click ON and that should set the wifi to turned on. Always make sure that the wifi switch was set to on as well.

If this didn't fix the problem, kindly reinstall the wifi adapter driver by downloading the driver from the manufacturer's website. after reinstallation kindly reboot the computer.

Please leave comments if you have any other questions.
