Question about Schwinn 12" Roadster Tricycle

Schwinn Roadster rear wheels won't spin freely

When I try to spin either rear wheel of our new Schwinn Roadster, they only spin a quarter revolution, whereas the front wheel spins ~7 revolutions with the same force. Do they just need some lubricant or do I need to take the wheels apart (the rear wheels came pre-assembled)? My 3 and 5 year olds can't even ride it down the street because the resistance makes it so difficult to pedal. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!! Thanks!

Its not the fenders, I have removed them. Its a design flaw with the black plastic axel spacers. The rim of the wheel cant spin without them spinning. They cant spin unless the washers and nuts holding them on are loose. I even tried wd-40 to get them spinning with little or no relief. I have to re loosen the bolts after each use. Good looking bike, but this issue makes me want to part it out on ebay.

Figure out what, if anything, is rubbing. Maybe the fender(s)?

Problem with bearing or axle, no way to be more specific. Have someone comfortable with mechanical items or a bike shop look at it. If fairly new refer to place purchased.

Why are the rear wheels locked up on my toddlers schwinn tricycle?

I took the fenders off to give a little more space for the wheels to move. Don't tighten the nut and washer right up against the black plastic spacer on the rim. Schwinn should be sending out locking spacers or nuts to fix the problem, but I don't see that happening.

You have a better chance of diagnosing the problem than we do. Eyeball and listen to it. Something is rubbing somewhere or bearings have frozen. Do both wheels drag?

What is my gear ratio on my 1999 yukon ? 4 wheel drive drum brakes . the rear end is gone.

it may be easiest to call the GM dealer parts dept and they will need the option code for the axle. Its listed in the glove box on a decal with a lot of 3 digit godes. They can tell you the ratio and if its limited slip or not.
