Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a compaq nc6000 notebook which was updated from xp to vista some time ago. Everything works fine except the SD card reader which does not recognise or respond to SD cards any more. Device manager does not report any problem with the O2micro PMCIA memorycard bus drivers or accelerator. HP give no useful information even though a vista edition of the NC6000 is a listed model. Any ideas?

I don't see any Vista-specific drivers on the manufacturer's web-site:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=367369&lang=en&cc=ca&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=367367&taskId=135

which may just mean that Vista already includes support.

Although you're not upgrading to Windows 7, see:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

and run the (free) Upgrade Advisor, to see if there any "issues" with your hardware.

Its not recognizing my sd card reader

Make sure you can see the Secure Digital host controller and
Texas Instruments PCI GemCore based smartcard controller in the Device Manager. If its missing, re-download the drives from HP.

If you are trying to use a SDHC Memory Card in the reader,
you will need updated Win XP TI drivers as the ones on the HP site
do not support the newer memory cards.

This goes for the nx5000's nx6110's nc6120's and nc6320's.
Updated XP TI drivers are needed

I can't find network and video drivers for my HP Compaq nc6000 running with xp sp3. Please help me. I've tried all the drivers found in hp website, but none of them works. Do you know any other link where...

Download your driver from the link below

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=367369&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=367367&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093

I am not sure what chipset you are using for your network card na dvideo adapter card.

If the download doesn't work, installed all the update including BIOS from the above link and check our again.Windows service pack 3 usually doesn't give problem on any other drivers installation except audio driver.

How do I insert a sd card (digital pictures) into my Compaq nc6320?

Here is a link to the page in your user manual that describes how to use the SD card. You will need a pdf reader like Acrobat reader installed on your computer to be able to read the information in the link.

If Vista does not like your video, this means that your installing Vista on a computer that is not compatible with running Windows Vista. Either go back to XP or buy a new Graphics card from walmart for 80.00. This will solve your problems.
