Question about Micro Innovations KB982W Keyboard

1 Answer

Some of the keys on my keyboard don't function properly. It's as if I'm pressing different keys. For example, when I press the left arrow key, it's as if the left arrow and F11 key were pressed. I used a simple keyboard tester program which tells me which keys are being "activated" when I press a key. Several other keys are malfunctioning as well. When I press F12, it sends an F12 and a right arrow. Pressing Home sends a Home, Page Down, AND a Delete. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, changing the batteries, and cleaning the connectors, but nothing worked. The keyboard has never done this before. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hey busyfixindap.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I think the keyboard itself is broken. I tried changing the regional settings (actually, they were already set to the appropriate US settings), but it didn't work.

I also have an older, wired keyboard which does not have this problem, so I think the wireless one has seen its final day.

    Thanks again.

    Hey busyfixindap.

    Thanks for your reply.
I think the keyboard itself is broken. I tried making tips in the regional settings, but that didn't work. Plus, I have an older, wired keyboard that works fine. So, I think this keyboard is done.

    Thanks anyway. (:

Unlock number lock

On a laptop, the "Num Lock" key has a function slightly different than the one it performs on full-d desktop keyboards. Activating "Num Lock" on a laptop usually transforms a set of central keys, including many letters, into number keys, allowing typists used to entering numbers on a keypad to type efficiently. While on desktop keyboards "Num Lock" usually has a dedicated key, on laptops it often shares a key with another function on MacBooks, for example, it shares the "F6" key and you must hold down the "Shift" or "Fn" key to activate it.

Look for the "Num Lock" key on your laptop's keyboard. This is usually near the top of the keyboard. If the key says nothing on it except "Num Lock" if that's the only function the key performs you can just press it to activate the lock; a light will probably go on somewhere to indicate that "Num Lock" is on. If the key has multiple functions, you'll have to hold down a different key while pressing it. Hold down "Shift" and press "Num Lock" if the writing saying "Num Lock" appears above some other writing on the key, the way various symbols appear above the numbers on the keyboard's number row. Hold down "Fn" and press "Num Lock" if the writing saying "Num Lock" appears in a different color often light blue that's shared by the "Fn" key.

My mouse pad doesent work

Locate the function key on your keyboard (F1 through F12) that has an icon of a touchpad. This is often a rectangle with two smaller rectangles below it, representing the touchpad and its two buttons.

Press and hold the "Fn" key, usually found in the lower left area of your keyboard.

Press the touchpad function key and then release both keys.

If this does not enable your touchpad, try holding the "Fn" key down and pressing the touchpad function key twice in a row.

Shortcut Key Method

Press the Windows icon key on your keyboard and hold it down until the Start menu pops up. If your keyboard doesn't have a Windows icon, press "Ctrl-Esc" at the same time.

Use your arrow keys to locate the Control Panel and press "Enter."

Navigate to "Mouse" with your arrow keys and press "Enter" to open the mouse control dialog box. Then, press "Alt-F" together to access the tabs at the top of this box.

Navigate using the arrow keys to "Device Settings" or "Touchpad" or the similar option on your system and press "Enter."

Press the "Tab" key until the "Enable" option or a check box next to it highlights and then press "Enter." Press "Tab" again until you are highlighting "OK," and press "Enter."

Your touchpad will be re-enabled.

hope this helps

The brightness of my laptop is very high

There should be a function key (usually labeled "FN") on the keyboard. There will probably also be buttons with brightness adjustment labels on them. Usually the arrow up/down keys adjust your brightness while the FN key is pressed. The adjustment keys are usually labeled with a picture of the sun with an up or down arrow beside it - almost always in a different color than the letters on your keys [maybe light blue?]. Otherwise you may have to adjust it via software in the control panel. Good luck.

My keyboard is a mess when almost all the keys

They may have removed the keys to clean the keyboard and placed them back in the wrong spot.
Check the keys against another beyboard and see if the keys have been placed in the wrong spot.
Take it back to the people/company that did the work and tell then the keyboard is not working properly.

Keyboard trouble

you need to reload that software that came with the keyboard. Uninstall the keyboard from device manager :- Control Panel>system>device manager. Then reload the software for the keyboard, which should also have the drivers. If you do not have the software, let me know the make and model of the keyboard and I will see what I can do.

Hope this helps
