Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies
It could be registry problem, corrupted files, etc.. The best solution is uninstall the currently installed version and reinstall a new version. If you still have the Cd/Dvd that came with the printer, that's enough, just uninstall it and reinstall the fresh program after restarting your Computer.
In the meantime, let's do something more than just reinstalling.. please download this small utility application ccleaner, install it and run the program. After the program is opened, click on the "tools" and uninstall all the Hp Applications installed on your system (this software has a built-in program uninstaller). After it's done, click "Registry" > "Scan for Issues", wait for few seconds and when the scan is completed, "Fix all selected issues" > "No" and then again "Fix all selected issues". Restart your computer and install the Hp software.
(Please don't run the cleaner that comes with the Ccleaner program, you'll loose all the downloaded files if your current browser is Internet Explorer.)

MUST DELETE DRIVER SOFTWARE FIRST, NOT JUST ICON, BUT SOFTWARE, YOU HAVE UNINSTALL SOFTWARE IN VISTA YOU MUST USE THIS. GOOD LUCK
