FAN NOISE MAYBE?

Lately when I walk by my WD-52525 I notice that there is always a noise coming from it. Set could have been off for an entire week, but there is still a noise. Sounds like a fan or something. It NEVER shuts off! This has been a great set, still is. Wonderful picture! But I'd imagine it's using up electric all the time since something is continuously running. Is there anything I can do or check myself? Other than pulling the plug when I'm not using it.

Everything that i've been able to find says that it is supposed to run all the time. There has been several complaints from customers w/ the same problem but it appears to be normal. The fan will get louder as it ages so maybe you are just now hearing it. It only uses a very small amount of electricity. Here's a similar post for it.

Hello,

You need to check for the refrigerator level, drain pan, condenser fan, evaporator fan and inspect the compressor mounts for the cause of noise. Any popping or hissing sound is normal on frost free refrigerators.

Good luck

My WD-52525 started a rubbing noise coming from the back area. I figure it's the light engine. Color was off and it won't restart, has a lamp light now. Lamp is 4 months old. Sound like light engine?

This sounds like your color wheel. this will affect the colors on your screen. Do check your lamp though, at 4 months you still should have a good lamp. Unless you have a bad ballast affecting the lamp as well. If you hear a rapid clicking or an electrical buzzing type noise. "ballast"

Low pitched grinding or groaning noise

Dan i recently had one of these in the shop and discovered a problems with blown capicitors in power supply.. however the low pitch groan indicates a fan or what is known as a color wheel. if this motorized part does not reach speed the lamp will not fire. replaceing the color wheel is not an easy task.
