Question about Computers & Internet

I have an Acer Aspire 5536. The graphics card appears not able to play movies very well. It jumps and skips a lot when watching movies. The picture may freeze and the picture may stay moving of vica versa. Is there any settings I can change or upgrades i should make.

Does it happens all the time on all movies no matter online or disc? If not, there might be a problem with the disc, the DVD ROM or the network connection of the media server online. Otherwise you can try to use another media player or DVD player software on your computer, check the codecs and update the graphic card drivers, or share more memory to video (through BIOS), or turn on hardware acceleration and stuff.

I think problem lies not with video card but with program which you are using. most probably you have too many programs loading on startup, vista is an os from hell and is not handling priorites very well, but try these solutions:

1. streamline your boot-up to only necessary programs, remove all auto-starting on boot-up like messenger, yahoo, adobe, skype, office and what else what you have, leave only and only what is necessary to run your computer. these program should start only and only when you need them!
2. run ccleaner or similar, remove all rubbish from your computer and streamline your registry as well
3. use "decent" and lightweight video/dvd player, one of the better ones will be free vlc player
4. if you have less than 2gb ram, increase your ram to 2gb
5. if you can afford, upgrade to win7 of same "flavour" as your current vista...

i actually on my own computers disable screen saver when i am watching movies, some savers are very intrusive.

I want to watch a movie from my acer aspire 5536 laptop on my tv with hdmi how do i do this

Which operating system are you using?

If you're using Windows 7 (since this was launched late 2009), ensure that the HDMI cable is connected from the laptop to the TV.

Then cycle through "WINDOWS KEY"+ "P", and a menu will appear with four options. Select the last one (Projector only) and it will output the video to your TV.

Let us know if this works.

Hi I need a better graphic card in my acer aspire 5536! Right now its got a ATI Radeon HD 3200 and it sucks.... need to know if I can change it myself and which cards fit in my laptop ?

Hi

Thank you for your query

Unfortunatley unlike desktop PC's, laptops do not have swappable graphics cards as they are built into the motherboard

So in essence to replace the graphics card you would be swapping out pretty much all the internals of your laptop i.e. to swap graphic card you will need a new motherboard, if you need a new motherboard then you will need a new CPU etc etc

Apologies again

I hope this has been useful

ON MY ACER 5536 IT HAS A BLURAY STICKER AND SEEMS TO IMPLY IT PLAYS BLURAY MOVIES BUT I CANT GET IT TO DO IT. SO DOES IT PLAY THEM AND IF SO HOW DO I DO IT THANKYOU FOR YOUR HELP

If your laptop is still in factory specs (no extra added) then no, it can't because it doesn't have a blu-ray optical unit. That sticker is there to tell you that it's supported, as in you can replace your dvd-rw unit with a blu-ray one. In that case you will need a media player that can play blu-ray movies - the best one is VLC.

When I watch a movie/video clip from a DVD or online my laptop performs -very- poorly. It will "skip" ahead to various parts or take forever to play and will not play continuously. How can I fix this?

Hello.

I would suggest that you upgrade or reinstall the video software that you are using, such as Windows Media Player.

But, you didn't indicate if the Only time your laptop performs poorly occurs when watching a movie or video clip. If your laptop is slow in other ways as well, let us know.

Hope this helps.

Blueray discs will not play on the television when connected using an hdmi cable from my Acer Aspire 5920G. Can anyone help - the message that comes up on the television screen refers to the graphics card....

does everything else on the laptop screen show up ok and the movie shows up black? if so cycle through your display modes (usually FUNCTION key and a number with a picture of a screen, like 5) and one will work.

Dvd created inn sonic mydvd will only play once

It most likely has something to do with the way set top players store certain things in memory. have you ever noticed that if you pop a dvd out while watching then put it right back it, that it will resume? try putting another dvd in then putting the picture dvd in and see what happens.
