Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F1 indicates primary control failure and to resolve this you’ll have to replace the machine control assembly. This error should be fixed by whirlpool as its a common issue with whirlpool Cabrio washers, you can call 1-800-253-1301 whirlpool will send a tech. to fix it and pay for the part. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

F1 code

F1 is a flood sensor fault code. The problem sometimes comes from loading the machine above the top of the drawer. When the inside lid comes down before the dishwasher starts, it cannot seal completely and water can spray into the outer cavity. The water accumulates in the inner bottom where there is a sensor. The sensor protects the electronic components from getting wet by warning you of the water which you cannot see. The solution is to remove the bottom drawer and wipe out, then dry the compartment with a fan or a small space heater. Once dry, the machine will function as usual.

Confirm that the lid switch a common failure is working. A distinct click is usually heard when lid is closed. Temporarily by-pass to confirm and diagnose this type of problem. Confirm tab is in place on the lid.

Re: my double dishwasher, in additon to the F1, I

One possibility is that the filter area in both the drawers is dirty. In case you have not cleaned the filters before, then follow the steps in the user guide on cleaning the filter plate and the things underneath including the motor cavity.

Also I find using the dishwasher cleaner (in powder form one packet per drawer) is helpful. Follow the instructions on the cleaner packet.

Good luck

How to test many brands of Ranges that are flashing a F1 fault code: You have either a bad ERC (clock) or a bad touch pad.
  1. Disconnect power to stove
  2. Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
  3. Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
  4. Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
  5. Turn power back on to stove.
  6. Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
  7. If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
  8. If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad.
