Question about Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Pictures no longer download

I used to always be able to download pictures easily to my computer. Now whenever I connect my camera to my computer, the camera's connection button doesn't light up in order to allow me to download my pictures. It hasn't not been dropped or so forth. What can I do? It has worked once or twice randomly since this started, but it was like a miraculous event that just suddenly pops up and disappears as soon as it started. Thanks for any help!

It's usually a couple of services that arn't running. Click start -> Run
And type
Services.msc

In that like make sure SSDP discovery and Canon camera access lib are both running and either manual startup or auto startup.

If both are ok then it could just be some software in the background. Some multy function printers can give that problem also. try if you have one, un plug the usb for the printer, restart then try the camera without the printer attached.

Want to download pictures from pdc700 polaroid camera

Try to download the required software from Polaroid. Every computer needs software (and a driver) so it can transfer the pictures from a camera to the computer. The software always comes with the camera. but if you don't know where the CD is, try the firm of your brand.
If that won't work (some brands no longer exists and some on't support that long) you always could try some free software like from Ulead, Pixir, BeFunkey, Gimp, Photoshop express. Or if your camera does have a memory card, buy a external card reader and use that to transfer the pictures and videos to your computer.

My Pentax S40 will no longer download photos onto my computer

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Since you didn't say what program(s) you're using I can't tell you anything about where it/they may have downloaded your photos to.

Try and find your camera's driver to download on your computer. Or upload your pictures using your SD card, and not direct through your USB camera.
