CHECK FOR A BLOCKAGE IN BETWEEN THE OUTLET AND THE PUMP MAY HAVE HAIR OR TRASH SIDE OF THE PUMP AS THERE IS A BUILT IN STRAINER THERE. ALSO CHECK YOUR PLUNGER VALVE AND SEE IF ITS CLEAR.

I have a hayward s166t filter, guage reads 0 and sight glass water does not swirl when backwashed

Does it show pressure when in "Filter" mode?

If not, then your pump is either not primed, Impeller is plugged, or there is not enough water in the pool, you are sucking air.

Pool pump issue

Copy following link to identify Hayward product and download product manual with troubleshoot section:
http://www.hayward-pool.com/prd/In-Ground-Pool-Manuals_10201_10551_14502_-1___I.htm
Select 'Pumps: above ground' or scroll down to same
Typical troubleshoot section:
Low flow "Check for clogged strainer or suction line, plugged discharge line, air leak in pipes or tubing, bad impeller"
Noisy pump "Check for air leak, foreign matter in pump housing, worn out bearings etc"
Air in line due to loose pipe or tube, clogged intake and outfow, and bad pump is common to both symptoms.

What is an infinity pool?

Infinity pool design is really an awesome look and feature.
So cool...
Also called Negative Edge or Vanishing Edge Pools.

When they have a breathtaking backdrop behind it, Nothing can beat the view! Like another body of water or hillside!
And then depending on the design, the opposite end where the water falls into, can be a spectacular water fall, wading pool, water feature, etc.

Take a look at these:

How do I remove air from pool filter lines?

with out seeing your set up not to easy, but lets try
1 your pump room is below surface of pool, make sure your pool level is high enough to return water to pump via the skimmer hole in side of pool at surface level. water should fil pump basket. check that you have a good seal on glass cover. no water in basket check if valve from pool is open still no water close valve fill filter chamber with a hose close glass cover start pump and open valve immediately.
2 pump room above pool level, close inlet valve fill pump filter with water close glass cover securely start pump and open valve.
a good drawing of you equipment and its position relative to pool how and ware u connect vacuuming hose

My pressure guage is reading 0 when the pump is on. The water level of the pool was low so I think there may be air in the system. What can I do?

First of all fill the pool up. Then wrap a rag around a hose and force water into the suction line. If you have problems still, you may need to replumb the pump or change the seals.

When I turn the suction valve to pull from the pool only and not the jacuzzi, the pump doesn't fill w/ water and has a lot of air and the filter tank loses pressure.

sounds like you have alot of air coming from the pool. check the weir in the skimmer to make sure it's not stuck and blocking water from coming in, assuming the water level in the pool is normal.

If you have an auto cleaner, make sure the hoses are not cracked. Use a process of elimination to try and determine where the air is coming from. If you can't find anything obvious, have the line(s) pressure tested.

No water coming through thruster jet

I would make sure that the water pressure from your return lines is adequate to move this automatic pool cleaner. You might also want to check for an obstruction in the lines to make sure that the pressure is adequate.

Hayward Navigator sort of floating around by the movement of the water...does not climb walls. Line has suction not sure if its too weak

I consulter the owners manual for this model. This is what they suggest.

First, remove all of the air from the cleaner head and stop all air from entering the pool through the return lines. Also, if the head and hose are covered with bubbles, give the hose a good tug. This will release the air bubbles and allow the pool cleaners to settle son the bottom of the pool. Also, the cleaner head may actually be being lifted off the bottom of the pool by the hose or the pressure in the return lines. Make sure that the hose stays untangled and the pressure from the return lines is not too low (not enought pressure to power) or too high (too much pressure that cause the unit to lift off the floor).

Motor and Pump sound ok. No water moving.

That paddle wheel is an impeller. It spins at high speed in order to sling water coming from the pool to the pressure outlet of the pump. The centrifugal force causes pressure to force the water through the filter and then back into the return line of the pool. If there is air in the pump it needs to be primed. One way to do this is to disconnect the return hose from the pool (block the water from the pool so it is not lost on the ground). Let water leak out of the hose so it replaces the air in the pump with water. The hose can be reconnected and the pump started.

Happy pool management.
