I still need the network adapter drivers.

  • tzychowski Jul 30, 2010

I can't find a model number on the desktop, but the documentationthat came with it says it is a 4700 series.

  • tzychowski Jul 30, 2010

OK. I got the internet service going. Thanks.
The reason I had to reload Windows was that when I restarted my computer i got a a msg about a sys32\hal\dll being corrupted or missing. Any ideas?

  • tzychowski Jul 30, 2010

  • tzychowski Jul 31, 2010

Thanks a bunch. I do have one question. What are you referring to when you say "... enter the keys for the operating system ..."?

  • tzychowski Jul 31, 2010

All I have is an "reistallation CD " up to service pack 2. I looked And can;t find a 25 characters anywhere. By the way, I updated up to service pack through down;oads fro microsoft

  • tzychowski Aug 01, 2010

After my recent problem I installed service pack 2 using the disk that came with the system (Xp came already installed on the computer when i bought it). Then I updated from the microsoft site until i was current.

Hi that error message mean a file was missing from the computer, but you didn't had to wipe wipe the computer you could of repair the file with the windows Xp CD

  • Hilton Bristol Jul 31, 2010

Thats the information below and you can go to the Microsoft website and upgrade to the service xp pack 3 its more advance.

Hi there if your computer has missing files or a file is corrupt and you need to repair the damage file, you can do this by using a recovery disk for the computer if you have one. If you do not have a recovery disk for the computer you can use the operating system disk to repair it, please follow these steps: insert the operating system disk into the CD/DVD drive, restart the computer, press F12 and choose boot from CD save and exit. While the computer is loading it will ask you to press any key to boot from CD, so you will press any key, a blue screen will appear while its loading, when it get to the first set of options you will press enter to continue. when it get to the second set of options it will ask you to install the operating system or repair it, choose repair and follow the steps from there, once you choose repair, the computer will go through different stages. The next step is to enter the keys for the operating system the computer will continue until it finish the repairs and this should solve the problem of missing files. But you should backup your files before doing this even though no files should be lost but its better to backup just in case something goes wrong. Backing up the file is always an important part of having a computer, you should also create a recovery CD and this can be done during the process of backing up your computer files. The back up files should be store on one or more DVDs or other storage device and this along with the recovery CD should be store in a safe and dry place. The purpose of the recovery CD is to repair damage or missing files on the computer and each computer require its own back up and recovery disk to repair the problem.

1. i hope you have backed up of all your data from the HDD.
2. format the HDD and reload the OS - but this time, make sure that you have atleast 2 partitions.
3. keep all your important in the second (non-system) partition.
4.after you have reloaded the OS, please get a good anti-virus and anti-spyware application and scan your computer regularly with them.
