You will have to buy and replace the usb port ..but this will have to be done by a professional cause the usb ports on laptops are mounted directly on the motherboard ..and it is not a matter of just opening and replace have to dig in pretty hard until you get to the motherboard itself ..and after that to remove the old one and replace the other ...
here you can find usb ports to fit you machine ..but cause you didnt specified the exact model I had to make a large search ..
another way to fix this temporarily to buy a 4 ports usb hub ...but this will involve to have at least one usb port available will find such a Hub on ebay too..

Usb port not working

What are you trying to plug in to the USB port? Maybe its a bad USB stick, not necceserally a bad USB port on the computer.
USB should work on its own, there are no drivers available to download. If the problem continues I suggest you take it for a repair.

Welcome to Fixya.

Seems like you're having some serious hardware issues with the USB ports. Before I go on, you have to know and understand that all USB ports in your laptop is connected to the mainboard (motherboard) and there are no ways developed (yet) to repair/replace a USB port without replacing the entire board itself. With this, I am highly recommending for you to purchase a USB Hub - where you only need 1 USB slot from your computer as this device carries multiple (up to 16!) USB ports with it. It can be purchased from any local computer/electronic boutiques near you and it looks something like this :

Common price ranges from $30 to $50 (depending on model and number of slots). If however, you choose to have the board replaced, then we are looking for around $300 - $400 for the labor and parts.

Here's acer's support site if you wish to know more details about replacement options :

I broke my USB port on my Acer Aspire 4730Z. How

open the laptop, desktop pc, and remove carefully the internal usb connector, that goes to the motherboard, BEFORE ANYTHING DISCONNECT THE POWER CABLE, AND EVERY SINGLE CABLE ITS CONNECTED TO, MOUSE, KEYBOARD...ETC. then see which kind it is, and go to your local hardware store, Best Buy, Fry's, or order it online.

Broken Hub

The plastic piece is kind of just a spacer - you could probably Crazy Glue it back in place (just a drop - even less). This might work if the contacts in that port are not messed up.

But you can get a new one for just a few bucks. See/get one here:

Or here:

I would recommend that you buy a self-powered (one that you plug in to a wall outlet) USB hub, because sometimes USB ports on a computer do not have enough power themselves to power a non-powered hub.

Good luck.

One of my Acer Aspire USB port will not let me

It is most likely that the Port has been damaged by having the wrong cable plugged into it. If one Port is still working, there is nothing wrong with the Computer.

With a Flash light, look inside the Port to see if any of the Contact Points are bent or damaged. If they are, there is only a slight chance that the Port Can be Repaired.

It will probably be cheaper to buy a 4 Port USB Hub and use the one Port with it.

Good Luck!

Im trying to reinstall a replacement keyboard on my Acer Aspire 5610z laptop. I think the part Im having trouble with is the electronic piece that ??slides?? back into the slot? Any help would be greatly...

Good day sir. Hi, the port that receives the keyboard is the PS2 slot, if this slot gets damage, you have no choice but to replace that slot, and electronics inside, which mean replacement of the board, You still has an option to use the USB port, you can get a Keyboard with USB interface.

Broken USB Port compaq presario v5000

The hardware USB ports are identical for both versions. Only the software and hardware controller are different.
I suggest you use a temperature controlled soldering iron with a fine tip for this job.
You need to dismantle the laptop completelt to remove the motherboard from the plastic case. Take a note of where the screws come from because they may be different lengths. Don't apply excessive pressure on the plastic case else it will break, start from one side and work around each side, the plastic case has catches to hold the halves together.
Start by rmoving the hard drive, CD/DVD drive, battery etc.
