Question about GE D52GW12 52" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

GE D52GW12 I'm having the same problem with the tv coming on. i had a shop look at it they charged me for the service call 140 and the part needed was $500 and the repair would be an additional 400. I only had this tv 3 years. they suggested it was cheaper to replace it. Is it possible to get the part and fix it myself. I am being told that it has something to do with the vertical amplifier and it has several parts in that and anyone could be the problem. Can I just buy the who unit and install? I don't want to buy a new tv yet.

Most techs wont do component level repairs anymore as they want to sell circuit baords and charge outrageous prices to install them. Go to the following link and leave them an email with your model number and what the problem is your having. They will help you out and they are RCA experts.

ON our GE D52GW12 52" AFTER TURNING TV ON IT

Try resoldering the flyback transformers connections on the board. Its very common for the flyback pins to develope cracks around the pins which can cause that issue. I would check that first with that model.

Where can I get a new bulb?

If that is the correct model number of your set above (D52GW12), then your set doesn't have a bulb. That model has 3 picture tubes. You probably won't find a picture tube for one unless you take it to a tv repair shop which may have a used one, but it would be fairly expensive.

If that isn't your model number and your tv does have a lamp, you can find just about any one of them on ebay for the best price. Just enter your model number off the back of your set and the word "lamp" in the search column and they should come up.

Projection GE tv wont come on

the ge d52gw12 is an rca 222 tv.. shutdown conditions occur on these set due to the microprocessor detecting a condition in the set that might cause a safty problem.. One or more of about 25 different conditions may cause this. Unless your a technician you have done the right thing by unpluging to reset the set. Since the green light flashes.. this indicates NO MAIN FUSE problem. Technician have special computer interface equipment that reads error codes much like that on a automobile. this help determine what might be shutting it down. The most like sources of problems are high voltage components. Horizontal outout transistor. flyback, stuff any tech can replace. WARNING.. tvs especally this one generate potentally leathal voltages.EVEN with the set unplug. We see alot of these sets in our shop...(good recomendation) and these are what i term value sets.. average repair run 300 ... if you have to replace a tube...i would not repair.. these set new run about 700 new. tube replacement maybe 1000. LEt me know if you need any more advice
