Assuming you have the original navi disc, then your laser eye is either dirty or tired(out of alightment) from playing mp3 or copied disc. Buy a cd lens cleaner kit if that doesn't help then have someone who know how and have it re-align. Goodluck.

Try running a disc cleaner through it. If it doesn't work straight away, you might have to run it through a couple of times. I'm sure this will help.

Error 5 keeps showing up when I want to play cd.

Go to your local store and buy a CD laser head cleaning kit. Usually has a single CD that has what looks like brushes attached to it... run that and it should clear up your "can not read disc" error. Also.. pay close attention to the media you are inserting. A lot of CD players can't read CD-RW media.

Japanese market orientated products are not compatible to USA FM tuning frequencies and the Dvd regions are different to. In short, you will not be able to tune in to a station or play a dvd disk unless the disk is all region.

My Audiovox D1788 says "no

Hello
Your Audiovox's Laser Picup Unit is in trouble. In payers, that can play both CDs and DVDs, there are different laser Beams from the same Laser Picup Unit, one have with a wavelength slightly differ to the other. When we insert a CD or DVD disc in to the player, at first the control system inside the players' circuit board will detect it, whether it is a CD, MP3 or 'DVD, by variying the wavelengths of the laser beam, and confirm it to be a CD, MP3 or DVD. Only after this detecting process, it will read its lead-in track and start to play.
In your CD player, now there is only beam that has the wavelength to play DVDs. Others are not working. That is why, it plays only DVDs and not others.
But before replacing the Laser Pick up Unit, you just replace its strip wire. Strip wire is one which connects the Laser Pickup Unit ot the mainboard. It has carbon conductors, instead of metal conductors. There is a chance to get a break in these conductors, even one of them break, will cause a problem,. As it has to move along with the laser pickup unit, when tracks the CD, the chance for a break is there. Just replace it first and see will it help you. It has clips on both ends, and after releasing the clip, it can be replaced easly. If this does not help, replace the Laser Pickup Unit, with same type and number. Insist on same type and number, as it is a critical component in your system. OK.

I put a DVD in the car (Toyota) DVD player and it then spits out I have tried various DVDs? Tried the reset button as well!

check the unit supports DVD-VIDEO (it might be a NAV controller - DVD-ROM). other possibilities could be worn laser pickup, needs clean. dont waste your money getting one of those lens cleaner discs - the unit needs to be able to play the disc in the first place and the majority of lens cleaners brushes are too short anyway - have the radio removed and cleaned by a professional before you take the next step..

I bought a new 07 dodge caliber this weekend. It has a stock 6 disk with satilite. I cannot get a cd to load, or the stereo to change into cd mode. whats wrong??

if you push the eject bution it will tell you to insert disc, to go to fm or sat to cd, there must be a disc for it to play... to load the whole stereo with cd's just push eject and the tray you want to load along the bottom of the stereo and it will tell you when to put the disc in, works the same for taking them back out
