That means that your ram is good..real nice of you to have check that...now see if you can get a spare cooling fan..cause i guess that your fan has reached its limit or heat sink overheated..

maybe am rightor am wrong ..in one ad other case i would tell you to check your fan..cause if its faulty you'll need to buy aew one afterall but if not keep it as spare..but i beleive its the fan..if its fsaulty then the logical circuit will trouble up on the beeps..

I've had the same problem w/ 5610. Downloaded the service manual here (http://tim.id.au/laptops/acer/aspire%205610%20travelmate%204200.pdf) and repositioned the keyboard. Problem solved...

Laptop wont power on

Hi yes the laptop will still power on and at least beep at you or light up the LEDs and start the fans, you will get no display with out the ram installed, but you will get a basic power on so listen for those fans,

if you install the ram you should get a a display on the screen with the branding logo and boot information but without the hard drive it will have no operating system

Blank screen on my laptop, unit is turned on

Could be a couple of things. First off, I would try shutting the laptop off entirely, removing the AC Adapter and battery from the bottom of the unit and pressing the power button down for about 20 seconds with all devices removed, and plugging everything back in and turning it on again. Should this not work, again remove power and battery, and if you're familiar with the process, removing the RAM as well, then plugging the power back in and try turning it on, see if you can get the computer to emit a POST error beep. If you do get the beep, then it could very well be a faulty stick of RAM, which is easy enough to replace. If you don't get the beep, but the unit still powers on, then there' smore than likely a problem with the motherboard in the laptop. If that's the case, then check with either Acer Technical Support via phone or web, or with the place where you bought the computer and see if you're still within some kind of warranty, and if you are, you can get it serviced through them. If not, motherboard repairs can be very costly (parts and labour will probably run about $400-600USD). RAM modules though like I mentioned before are quite inexpensive and simple enough to replace.

PC (NEC) 4 short beep at start up.

That would be ram or keyboard, but because there are no picture to screen, then most likely its ram.

Try to reseat ram modules,
or if its two modules then you can remove one power on and then another one and power on to determine which one is faulty,
or replace the ram.

My Acer aspire 5500 don't power on, it bip continously after centrino logo display

If it is making beeps during the startup (called post for Power On Self Test) this is usually a memory error. You can try reseating the memory chips.

Notebook LCD

The screen problem sounds like a leaky capacitor or other failing component that once warmed up exhibits close enough to the correct values to correct the display problem (this usually progressively worsens with every boot of the laptop until no benefit occurs after warm up).

The beeping sound suggests a hardware error, and could be the keyboard. I have seen this on a Satellite and randomly pressing multiple keys on the keyboard momentarily stopped the beeping and allowed the unit to boot (yours seems to be getting past the error beeps on it's own though, suggesting another culprit). The problem could be bad RAM, so pulling one stick of RAM out at a time and starting the computer will eliminate or confirm the RAM as the problem. Other removable hardware such as the hard drive (you would have to install another hard drive to check this one), wireless card, PCMCIA card/device, USB removable hardware (mice, keyboards, wireless antennas, etc...), should be the first devices disconnected to eliminate as being the cause.

Sounds like a real problem child/laptop. Multiple simultaneous problems are always tougher to troubleshoot as they can compliment/effect each other, so look at the one that occurred first. Good luck!

The most common beeps that you will encounter 95% of the time in repairing PC's are:

1 beep - computer ok
continous beeps / long beeps - memory error

1 long beep followed by 3 short beeps - video card error

or this might help

AWARD BIOS

the vga board has failed, its a very common problem in acer laptops, you can get a replacement part from www.acerparts.com im not sure if they ship into us but for europe thats where I get my parts.
my acers vga failed two times, ones within warranty and 12months after that, I have to say that acer products are really bad quality, I'm not sure about the latest models but from what I've seen the vga chipsets have real issues with the motherboards and keep failing over and over again.

I have not looked inside your model but the vga is either integrated into the motherboard = that means the repair will cost the whole motherboard, better to buy a new one.

if your model has a removeable vga like mine does, then you can consider changeing it to a new one. contact acer parts.

One of the covers in the bottom is the memory, one is network and last one I don't remember.
here are the contact details if your acer is out of warranty
http://www.acerparts.com/contact_us.php

The parts for your model are at http://www.acerparts.com/index.php?cPath=561_562_1064

you will have to contact acer parts directly, it may be that the vga is build into the motherboard or then the vga parts are not listed.

Hope this may help;

Acer travelmate 4000 laptop Big problem

I guess I can assume that you have it plugged into the ac power, so you know its not a power problem. We also know its not a problem with the power switch since the light turns on. So that leaves, motherboard, cpu, and ram possible problems. Ram would unlikely cause such a hault. Even with no ram, I believe the computer would make horrible beeping noises. So if its a problem with the motherboard or cpu, its pretty much trash, unless you want to waste the money on ebay or some place for another cpu to try to swap.
