Warning message Hello, I seem to have done something to my camera - there is a message in red flashing in the middle of the screen that says 'Warning PSD NG' I've been through the menu, but can't see anything that corresponds with the error message. Help! Thank you Clare

PSD NG is an error dealing with the OIS [optical image stabilization]. It can be fixed, it is not as terminal an error as many have rumored it to be. The caps could be a cause, but very remotely THE cause. You can have the camera sent in to Pani, and they will fix it, and you will get a bill for $300 - $600.

However the main cause for so many of the dvx100 series to have the psd ng error is loose cables. If you feel sure of your self with a screwdriver, tweezers, & forceps, you can make the repair yourself. In simple terms, all you need to do is reseat the ribbon cables. Follow the steps & photos here:

I did this repair with great success. It was a nerve wracking two hours, but I have not had the error reappear since. I got the camera from someone dirt cheap, [read 1/4 value], because of the psd ng error. I made the repair & not only have a fully operational unit with beautiful pictures, but I also quadrupled the value of it.

PSG IS YOUR IMAGE STABILIZATION CIRCUIT. PSG N/G CAN BE CAUSED BY BAD CAPACITORS ON GYRO BOARD. THEY ARE SURFACE MOUNT 22MF@6V C102,C103. WHEN THEY GO BAD THERE ARE STRAY OSCILLATION THAT PREVENT PROPER OPERATION. WILL AFFECT UNITS EVEN WHEN OIS IS TURNED OFF.. THIS IS A BOOTUP SENSOR PROBLEM. HAVE A SHOP REPLACE THE CAPS, THEY ARE CHEAP, LESS THAN $1.00 FROM DIGIKEY

I get a flashing red warning symbol during play and record. It is on the bottom LHS of the screen just above the 'camera shake' indicator and looks like an oval with a back slash through it. This symbol is...

i think it's the button cell that's CR1616 that's hidden when your battery is in the camcorder. Remove the battery to reveal that little plate to replace your button cell. It functions properly just that time and date might not be recorded.

Flashing Red Light....

The flashing "boat" in the middle of the viewfinder just means the button battery is dead. Camera will still work. It's the little pull-out light grey plastic thing that's next to the heel of your right hand when you're using the camera normally. You need a CR2025 cell.

Flashing red icon

It must be the internal battery problem. Change the button cell that is located near the charging input jack.
