and it just says serial v 2.08 written on the screen with no light on.
also this continues to remain displayed even when the cell batterey has been removed..
can anyone help me plz...
I hope this method will help u... i got the same problem as your... i trying soft and hard reset but it didn't work at all. But i try another method to open the battery cover... you'll see some switch at right side... plug in USB Charge plug, and then try play that switch... after that My O2 XDA II back to normal boot (pre-install windows).
Caution! do not try this more than 4 or 5 times!!! this will damage your O2 battery.

You can try looking over at xda-developers.net for help. What you want is a "hard reset" ; usually achieved by holding down buttons after you restart the phone. Try restarting, then holding down both volume keys before it turns on.
1 - Personally make sure your phone isnt on silent and make sure that you have not turned your tone down for the messaging. Go to Start>Settings and look around there for Tones or sounds or something.
2 - wap/internet should be set up already to use but it depends if you have the right sim card in for the phone E.G. - O2 XDA IIs will have the O2 settings on phone and putting a T-mobile sim card in wont be able to connect to the wap as you have O2 settings not T-mobile. So what you need to do is contact your network and ask them to send the right settings, as a rule they will just send it and it will be for free.
3 - What software do you mean? If you mean the latest operating software then you will need to flash the phones ROM and this could render your phone useless, however there are ways you can do it however you will need to go to other sites for this, sites i use are: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ or http://www.modaco.com
try going to http://forum.xda-developers.com/ and searching there. they have loads of advice of the XDA IIs. Proberly need to start a fresh with it, try a hard reset as it seems your stuck in bootloader mode
