Question about Panasonic DVD & Blu-Ray Players
There are a number of things that can cause the CD door to not open.
Some models are belt driven. I have seen a broken belt cause this.
There is a motor that drives the CD tray. The motor may have failed.
There are some electronic drive circuits that command and drive the motor. There may be a fault in that area.
There may be a defective sensor, or sensor circuit failure. Some sensors are optical and some are mechanical with a micro-switch. This is model dependent.
There could be a logic problem in the uPC controller, or a power problem to the associated circuit areas for the CD tray system.
Some of these problems are simple to service, while others can be fairly complex. You may need the assistance from someone who is experienced in CD player servicing. Take care that the cost of servicing a consumer type CD player may be expensive in relation to purchasing a new one.
If your unit is under warranty, you should give it to the authorized service rep to have it serviced under warranty.

Haven't got the problem fixed yet. I didn't want to have to pay for a solution.
