Question about Amana ATB1832AR Top Freezer Refrigerator

My freezer doesn't seem to be working properly. I have it set at the coldest setting and it is not freezing the water to make ice cubes, but the thermometer says its 0'F. I wonder if the fan is not circulating the air in there. and that is the problem?

It is possible that the cooling coils are clogged and blocks up the flow of air from the freezer to be blown around. So shut the fridge down and allow about 8 hours so that the coils clears up. Once the drains are clean then put the fridge on again. Put the thermostat to between 3-5 so as not to push too hard. Check if the ice forms in due time. If not there is the possiblity of the compressor having developed some hitches inside or the gas pressure being reduced due to any leaks. However if the ice forms well and the fridge is fine for the first day and then then fault occurs then you will need to check on the auto defrost system, So check this out and confirm with the help of a service technician , estimate and proceed only if you think it is feasible. Hope you try this out. Good day

The evaporator fan IS more than likely the problem. Feel the air
vents in the back of the freezer and see if you can detect any airflow. Also put your head inside the freezer when it is nrunning and listen
for the fan.

Freezer won't make ice cubes, but does provide cold water.

The water and ice maker are two seperate water control valves built onto the same. Your water control valve for the ice maker may be defective and require that you change the set. Fill ice maker with tap water and allow the water to freeze. If the ice maker dumps the ice into ice bin and then does not refill then this points to the water control valve. If the ice maker does nothing after water freezes then the problem is the ice maker. Send me a model number and I will look up the part numbers for you, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Hi, My Bosch Model B20CS50 SNI/01 side by side

It sounds like the fridge is in need of a regas, but that seems unlikely after only three years, although not impossible. An indication of that would be if the compressor could be heard to be running all the time. If it cuts out after running only a short time it could be the thermostat that has gone faulty.

First thing you must check is that the temp. setting on the freezer is not less then 4. any colder and the feed line may be freezing up and not allowing the proper amount of water to the ice maker. may also need to have the water line checked at the automatic water control valve to be sure there are no restrictions of water flow. Hope this helps you.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. the fan in the freezer blows air through it. there is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control.

Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp. try to chec in the user guide.

Hope helps.

Icemaker not working

Try filling ice maker with tap water and let freeze. If it dumps and does not refill with water the dual water control valve is at fault. If the ice maker just sits there full of ice and does not move then the ice maker and possible thermal fuse in red wire of the ice maker harness has blown. Let me know what you find, Sea Breeze

Freezer not working ice not forming

Possible it's not getting cold enough. Try adjusting to coldest setting to see if that works.
If mechanically inclined suggest replacing compressor or see if possible to refill freon.

Amana side by side with ice/water in the door freezer stops freezing about 8 yrs old

First of all the worst thing you can do is set your fridge on the highest setting even though it has it. That's live reving your car to the red line just because it has it. As far as your challenge is concerned, it sounds like a breach in the seal of the fridge or dispenser. Check to see if the ice despenser is closing properly after use and check the door seal to make sure it's closing tight when the door is closed. To do this, simply inspect it for any bad wrinkles, cracks, folds, etc. if none are visible close the door on a dollar bill and make sure it holds securly all the way around the door. I f it doesn't, the seal may need to be replaced and/or the door is warped. If you continue to have issues, post again, we will work this out.

Found in the FAQ section on Samsung.com:
Samsung refrigerator freezers produce about 120 cubes per day, which is in line with most manufacturer specifications.
Empty the ice tray and let the unit run for 24 hours.
If fewer than 50 cubes are produced during the 24-hour test, then your refrigerator requires service. Please contact Samsung Service at 1-800-SAMSUNG to schedule a service appointment.
If your freezer is producing 50 to 90 cubes per day, try the following:
  • Set the freezer temperature display to a lower setting. Freezer temperature must be 5 degrees Fahrenheit or less for the ice maker to work properly.
  • Make sure that the water valve on the refrigerator water supply line is completely open. You can find the water valve where the refrigerator water supply line taps into your house water line.
  • If you have a water filter in your refrigerator, change the filter cartridge. For instructions, see your Users Manual.
If you want your freezer to produce more than 120 ice cubes in a day, try the following:
  • An ice maker typically makes 1 tray of ice every 90 minutes. To shorten the amount of time the freezer takes to produce a tray of ice, set the freezer temperature display to a lower setting.
  • If your refrigerator has a Power Freeze function, press the Power Freeze button to speed up the ice making process. In the Power Freeze mode, both the compressor and the freezer fan run for 10 hours continuously. The ice making interval is reduced from 90 minutes to 55 minutes. If the ice bucket fills in less than 10 hours, Power Freeze stops automatically.
NOTE: If you have just installed your refrigerator, it will take 6 to 12 hours for the refrigerator to produce ice.
You should throw away the first three batches of ice cubes that the ice maker produces (approximately 30 cubes) to ensure the ice maker is making ice from clean water.
