Question about Air Tools & Compressors
Have a Atlas Copco air compressor and i turn it on and it just tries to start and throws the power out, the motors not siezed as the generator and motor turns around OK. Thanks
If your problem is only when there is pressure in the tank you most likely have bad pressure relief valve. If you drain the tank and it starts then you just need to replace the pressure relief valve.
If it happens whether you have pressure in the tank or not you most likely have a bad starting capacitor. If you have a motor repair shop near by it should be a fairly inexpensive repair. If you've ever run the compressor on an extension cord this is the most likely problem but it is possible you burned out the starter windings. The motor repair shop can tell you rather quickly which it is. If you don't have a motor repair shop near by you can order replacement starter capacitors from Graingers.com be sure to give the length and diameter as well as the capacitance.
