Question about Vizio VP322 32 in. Plasma TV

Open Question

Faint transparent horizontal lines on screen of Vizio 32" Plasma HDTV VP32. There are 5-6 lines which each kind of look like 2-3 smaller lines stacked on top of eachother. They are spaced 4-5 inches apart and are only present when I'm using the component cables to play Xbox 360 or watch my Comast cable in HD. Again, these lines are really faint, and are only noticeable when the picture being displayed is one solid color (most prominently when the screen is all black). I believe the problem arose after I had to take the back off of the television because a peg of my component cable broke off inside the the red (component) socket/plug. I had to remove the peg that had been pushed all the way through after I tried to pull it out. When I inspected the inside of the television, I noticed the small strip of metal that was supposed to be in the inside end of the red (componant) socket/plug had been bent outwards, so i pushed it back in and screwed the back of the television back on. I plugged my cable back in with a new set of cables and everything seemed fine until I noticed the lines about a week later.

SOURCE: 50" Vizio Plasma reads "No Signal" on all inputs?

Well, your TV is still under warranty. That's the good part.
The only thing I can recommend without voiding the warranty is leaving the TV unplugged for 30min. That way, the TV can reset itself and hopefully correct the problem.

If that doesn't solve the problem, it's time to use the VIZIO warranty.

SOURCE: 2/3 Inch Faint Horizontal Bar through center of screen

A little WARNING!! .. don't open the TV because if you do that the warranty is gone.

Whenever you see a black horizontal bar on the flat panel screen TV, it usually means that the buffers in one of the Horizontal COF chips is dead, not soldered properly or got damaged mechanically during transport or something like that. COF chips are microchips made on the flat cable that are connected from the board to the LCD panel screen, and they lit up certain sectors of the screen. Every X buffer lits up pixels from specific locations in combination with Y buffers, depending on type of panel used in a device. and when one of the Y buffers die ... then the pixels receive only X buffers information and not Y and then the black bar appears with some weird noise dots on the edges or something like that. It is repairable, what you need is an SMD repair (rework) soldering station and an identical Buffer COF chip. Unfortunately this is not a quick fix if you don't have the appropriate equipment, so I would suggest using that extended warranty and get your TV serviced properly by the LCD repair man :)

...this is the COF chip.

... this is the hot air SMD soldering station

depending on the COF chip type, some of the chips are soldered and some are just connected through the flat connectors without soldering.

A little WARNING!! again .. don't open the TV because if you do that the warranty is gone.

Horizontal pink line scrolling up screen

Isolate the ground from the power connection. Use a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter. See if this helps you. Often this is caused by noisy ground connections. I hope this was of some assistance.

We also have a Vizio with red horizontal lines and our TV is new

It's possible that the motherboard or the controller board for the screen is defective. At this point, I would use the warranty from Vizio. It should be no doubt that it covered. Here's the info you will need from the Vizio web site.

I have red lines up/down on my Vizio, how can I correct this?

Your sympton need to be more specific, but if what you see is 1 or more tiny lines running from top to bottom of screen (verticaly) and those lines change colors (red/green) depending on the background color on the screen, then your control board need to be replaced, you will need your TV model and product code, both located in the back of the TV next to serial number
