If the menu is clear without the lines then chances are its failed caps on the FMT board. You can get the V26 FMT repair kit from the following link which also includes instructions for the repair.

The top half of my pictures with a flash are shaded.

Not seeing the pictures I have to guess. If the shade you mention is not like a straight line, but more rounded, try making the picture without the lens hood. Or use a external flash, when you use another than the standard lens. I don't think you can take a picture in manual, with a shutter speed above 1/250 second, because in such case the top or bottom part could become shaded then, but then the shade is in a straight line from left to right.

Principle of lcd

Liquid Crystal Display - LCD
There is a Flo recent light that shines behind the screen. This light is what passes through the window or LCD when the shades are open or partly opened.
Think of each colored individual LCD (pixel) as a Window Shade. You have pixels that are made up of 1-red, 1- green and 1-blue light shade.
Your main control board will tell each light shade how much/far to open each colored light shade so it will make the color it needs to.
If the shades are closed (black) if the shades are all open (white)
Hope this helps.

If your picture looks green on all inputs and it slowly degraded, then you have an optical block problem. not repairable.

My Hitachi has green curved lines at the top and bottom of the picture. Everything on the picture is either shaded in green or blue...what could be the problem?

see attached photos, if look anything like your problem it is a convergence problem; this set uses either two of the STK 392-110 OR -150 IC CHIPS for this.

If you can solder it can be a do it yourself repair, parts cost should on EBAY be under 25 dollars total.

It is a very common problem in all sets of this type.

Let me know if you have questions or need help.

On the pictorial menu open 'Privacy Shades' ( the window blind picture )
If you can see the picture with a square red box next to it - click on the red square to replace it with a green triangle
The privacy shade is now off.

Dvd movies have green shade on tv

Check to make sure that *all* the RBG cables are properly inserted into the dvd player. We had the exact same problem for the past year only to discover that the R cable (for red) was not pushed in...hence, all dvd movies had a green hue to them.

Side shadows on picture

it sounds as if there are speakers to close to the tv or the built in speakers are not magnetically sheilded properly (maufacturer defect) if u have or have ever had speakers on the left and right side of your tv then the magnets in them will discolor and distort the screen. sometimes even long after the speakers have been moved away from the tv it will still look that way. you may try going to the library( or online )and looking in tv repair books on how to build a homade degauser unless your tv has that feature built into it in the menu somewhere like some computer monitors do. I had placed the front speaker of a 5.1 surround sound system on top my tv and it cuased that same problem, but i found out that by placing a small round magnet with a hole in the center on top of the tv (after removing the speaker for good) right where the discoloration was.. had to flip it one side or the other to get proper effect...it immediatly took away most of the discoloration and over time it disappeared. I hope this helps. Please email me at agclay777@comcast.net as to your conclusion in case it will help others. thanks, Adam
