More often then not it is a leak in the hose. I agree with a possible suction issue so tighten up everything before the pump, make sure seals are lubricated and sealing. Backwash your filter make sure the sand is clean, release any air from your filter. Check for something stuck in the crawler like an acorn or pine cone or bottle cap. Time to Open the Swimming Pool

If pressure is low, problem is before gauge and filter. If pressure is high, problem is filter or piping after filter. In you case it sounds like something is caught in hose or pipes . Could also be something stuck in the impeller. Remove cleaner and hoses and see if pressure goes back to normal. If it does not, check impeller. If it does, something is probably caught in cleaner or hoses.

Why does my creepy crawly loose suction after ten minutes

you may have a damaged diaphragm in the crawly itself. they often develop holes and will react as you describe. if this is the problem, it is a nice cheap fix.

I have a waterco pump and sand filter and can't get a high flow thru the pump to operate the creepy crawly

see if it works on recirculate if it does change sand or backwash if suction based and you have multiple inlets close the ones not being used if it is connected to a pool return close the other return valves or plug them while cleaning

My creepy crawly works for a little while then stops.I have 50kpa pressure at the filter

Check for debris or obstructions that could be lodged in the flapper of these pool cleaners. That could be restricting movement and causing the cleaner to stop cleaning. Check to make sure that it is not sticking on the main drain. If the main drain is not closed, missing a grate, or not flush with the pool bottom, it could be sticking. A pool pro would have to do some work to fix these problems (except for closing the main drain).

My creepy crawley will not pulsate, or does for 5 minutes then stops pulsating but keeps on sucking. I have read a few complaints and from what I can gather, I need to replace the flapper valve. What is...

ok first of all the flapper is located right in the center at the bottom of the creepy crawley. Pull it out of the pool turn it upside down and you can actually move it with your hands and it will feel like it loose and not really connected. Anyhow check in the mouth - opening for any kind of obstuction (leaves, twigs or anything foreign that may be causing it to fail. There can be something flopping around inside causing it to work sporadic or the flapper may need replaced however I doubt that. Next you need to check your circulation. Is there to much suction? this would cause it to stay in one spot and not move. Do you have an air leak causing the pump to lose prime and then regain it over and over? There are two ways you can check for air. At the pump basket - if you have a clear top can you see bubbles or on your return lines to the pool is there bubbles coming out? To much circulation and poor circulation can cause the creepy to do weird things. When was your filter last cleaned? Is there the required amount D.E. inside? Have you backwashed the filter at all? The last thing to check would be the hoses connected to the creepy crawley. Some hoses become loosly connected and start sucking air. Some hoses rub along the plaster continuously in the same spot causing holes. Although unlikely, poor water chemistry - chemical damage can cause hoses to deteriate over the years.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to submit any further questions you may have and I will be glad to answer them for you. Good Luck!!

Hi, we have a Zodiac pool creepy crawly pool cleaner which seems to work for a while, then get stuck in the one spot and not move in our inground pool.

With these pool cleaners, getting stuck in one spot is most likely the result of a waterflow problem. Check your water flow valve and make sure that it is adjusted correctly. make sure that you don't have any blockage that would prevent movement and cause the cleaner to stick in one place. This might seem like common sense, but make sure that you have enough hose to reach the entire pool. Many times, when this occurs, the cleaner cannot reach one part of the pool. make sure that your hose balance is correct also.

You will need to take the hoses out and lay them flat in the sun for a day or two and while you do this take the head to the store and have them caeck the swivel at the top of the mast head. Good luck.

My swimming pool filter returns dirty water to the

Might you have a broken lateral in the bottom of your filter and what you are seeing is sand coming into the pool?

Do you backwash daily or more often? (You should) Do you have a multi-port vavle or other type?

Im thinking broken lateral. Sucking air in and of itself will not cause dirt to return to the pool.

Whats a lateral? There is a series of pipes in the bottom of the sand with small holes in them. These holes allow water to travel in and out depending on whether you are filtering or back washing ... but not sand. If you have sand, you have a broken pipe.

Open the filter and remove the sand into a bucket to inspect the laterals.

I hope this works for you.

Does not clean the whole pool

may need to re-weight it or add helpers.
I had to add a rope system to my pool to get the creepy crawly to all the spots.

Not the best fix - but keeps the pool clean.
