You are right.If the compressor is faulty then unit will not work.But as you mentioned that after you unplug it for 2 days then reconnect it.The unit leaks water .This problem is all related to defrost problem.In your unit the defrost is not working properly.
To check where the problem is check the few possibilities:--
In the frezzer section do you hear a fan running? if not then that fan is the problem.If fan is running properly then check on the back panel off the frezzer do you see frost. If there is frost then there is ventilation problem in the unit that is is not letting the unit to defrost.if there is no frost then the air dampener between freezer/refrigerator needs to be checked.
if you are sure that the that evaporator fan motor is running and that there is no frost on the back panel and you remove the frezzer back panel and the evaporator is not a big block of ice then you are going to need a damper control this is the part in the fresh food section usually in the back right top that lets the cold air from the frezzer into the fresh food. The frezzer cools the fresh food the fan pulls cold air across the evaporator and pushes it into the fresh food through the damper it is either got moisture on it and can not open or the motor is bad and it just not opening.The back panel inside the frezzer two screws should hold it on maybe four.It has to be removed from in the freezer not from back of the freezer unit.
But if there is frost build up in the inner side of the freezer panel then the problem is of defrost control board and it has to be replaced.
Its called "adc" adaptive defrost control board.
