Question about LG LDF6920ST Stainless Steel 24 in. Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

I have a 2 year old lg ldf6920st that squeals after the motor has been running for a few minutes. I have taken it apart and whatched as the motor spins up and starts to squeal. I have had trouble getting the screw out of the prop in order to see if it will do it when the prop is not on and to also make sure there is nothing under it (which I doubt). any suggestions or should I just replace the motor.

Thanks, it's the circulation pump that is bad. I did not see any cracks or broken pieces and do not believe that is has been has heavy usage run 5 out of 7 days for the most part.

HI. This unit is equipped with two motors. One will be the drain pump motor and the other will be the circulation pump motor. Which one is the noise maker?

Okay, here is the deal with your motor noise. The prop's or impellers are plastic. They do not warp or bend out of shape. They simply break or crack, which will cause them to not move water or it will cause a jamming effect that will, essentially, burn the motor out. The noise you are hearing will be the cause of internal motor structure failure, due to old age and a high frequency usage rate. This is quite normal in a 2 year high usage period. The motor will become worn overtime, thus, producing the noises you hear when the motor is in use. It normally will kick in when the motor becomes heated.

The only recourse is to replace the failing motor. Click here to view a service manual for your unit. This is basically a universal manual for all LDF models, regardless of the numbers. If your model number begins with a LDF, this manual will cover it. There is a sump assembly diagram on page 29 that will illustrate how to disassemble the entire assembly.

Brand new LG LDF6920 makes a whistling/high pitch squealing noise even during 1st test run, no dishes no contaminants added. It is during the wash motor cycle once the wash pump gets up to speed *screech*....

I had a brand new Dishwasher do that, it wasn't an LG it was a Frigidaire i think, turned out to be some bits of plastic from the manufacturing process that were in the pump. I had another one that made thumping noises and turned out to be a little piece of the tape, you know all that blue or green tape they hold everything in place with when its new. Did you run it through a few cycles and see if the noise quit? Believe it or not when i called about the one that was squealing their customer service said to run a couple cycles to remove anything that might be in the pump from manufacturing, sure enough midway through the second wash cycle it just went quiet and never made another noise again after two years.

Why does a table fan slow down after some time?

Revolving blades in table fans pushes out air towards the front by creating a vacuum at the back of the induction motor. Other than providing air flow, the gush of air also cools the motor. Over time, esp if used in a polluted surrounding, dust collects inside the motor and causes friction in the shaft. If left for a prolonged period, this friction causes heat eventually drying up the lubrication, causing breakdown in the motor amature windings and also a leaky starting capacitor, thus slowing down rotation and also a complete failure.

2. Fans must be regularly taken apart, cleaned and lubricated. It is fairly easy if you are willing to learn. My India made Usha brand table fan is 48 years old and is still running smooth - just changed the start capacitor last year and my National ceiling fans are more than 35 years old.

3. In fact all moving parts in any equipment must be periodically taken apart, cleaned free of dust and grime and freshly lubricated. It will outrun your lifetime and serve the next few generations.

I have a brand new LG dishwasher-LDF6920ST. I

Either:
  1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
  2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
  3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.
Good luck,

Squealing noise on start up drying still works

This dryer needs to be taken apart to lubricate any and all moving parts. Idler pulley and rollers, if they are worn out in any way, replace them.
Also, consider a new belt.

Hoover Maxi 6 TC50 Tumble Dryer making squealing noise

Have you fixed this problem? I also have a Hoover condenser dryer, only a few months old, and has started to make a squeal/whistle. I'm thinking it might be the front fan needing some WD40, OR too much water vapour around the belt that moves the drum causing the sounds.

If it's the fan, lubricating the shaft and its components should fix the problem, if a wet fan then I'd think maybe fully cleaning the condenser filter, reservoir ect will fix the problem.

The problem seems to go away though "mostly" 15 or so minutes after you start the dryer, so that makes me think ones it gets warm something is expanding to allow more "give" so maybe the belt.

Whirlpool over range microwave making clicking noise

You just need to replace the stirrer motor and be sure it is "meshing" with the stirrer.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
