Open redsnow, click extras, and select Custom iPSW. A dialog window should pop up, go to where you have the ORIGINAL iPhone 3G 4.2.1 iPSW and select it. Press ok and It should then create a NO_BB iPSW in the same location as where the original iPSW is. Second step is to enter PWNedDFUmode. Open redsnow again, click extras and select PWNedDFUmode. Follow the onscreen instructions and you should be inPWNedDFUmode. Open iTunes and a message should show stating that your device is in recovery mode. Great now press ok, hold Shift and click Restore. A dialog box should show, go towhere the NO_BB iPSW is. Click it and press ok. Your device should now be restoring. Afterwards your device should turn on.
There is no such firmware version as 5.0, the latest version of firmware is 4.3.3,anyway if you want to upgrade your iphone, you need itunes software installed on your computer and a IPSW file for firmware.
Hi you can still jailbreak your phone with redsn0w 0.5.6b5 and you need the 4.1 ipsw for your phone download redsn0w and the ipsw files, start red sn0w when it asks for the firmware point it to your iphone software you downloaded and click next when ready. when you get the options to download cydia just tick that box and battery percentage not ipad bootloader you already have that, then click next and follow the instuctions on the screen once redsnow has finished and your phone has rebooted install cydia with the app that has been put on by redsn0w once installed it is jailbroken you can also unlock if need be. hope this helps.
firstly you need to go to General in iphone setting - reset and erase all content and setting. *do note that this will remove all application and softwares installed. Including sync mp3's.
Another way is to backup your phone first before formatting using itunes.
then restore to the original ipsw located on this website. http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750
once iphone is connected to itunes, you need to press Shift key on the PC keyboard and a box will appear for you to locate your IPSW file for restoration. But remember to download the IPSW from the website above.
turn the iPhone off, connect the cable to the computer, but do not connect to the iphone. Hold the home button and connect the iPhone to the computer. iTunes will recognize it in recovery mode. (You must have ipsw file) Hold shift and click restore. now look for the ipsw file, choose that file, and itunes will do the rest.
Download redsn0w. Also, if you are talkin about holding the option key, then i'm assuming you have the ipsw file already. Jailbreak the phone using redsn0w, and then through Cydia (which will be on the iphone after jailbreak) get and install ultrasn0w. If you have any questions about detailed unlocking instructions, send me an email. And I'll go into more detail.
