Hi,

It actually depends on which software you are using to write/create or erase the disc. You will have to use the software provided with your PC to erase the disc. Its the same process.I am sure you must have tried writing your disc with the software just go to the options or you may also find the erase disc option in the front when your software opens.

Goodluck..

You can only erase a disk that is labeled dvd-rw
this means dvd re-write.
if the disk is labeled dvd-r or dvd+r then it is a one time write.
you can't never write to these disks again.
my first question is this disk finalized? if no then you can go into your chapter menu, erase the chapter and record on the disk with limited time remaining. if you do this you may need to adjust your recording speed to fit your video on it.
if this is a re-write disk, then i would need your model number to see if it will erase the dvd-rw.
good luck.

If it is on RW just format.
If the DVD is +R or -R and you have not closed the track, change the file list to be recorded.
But if you have closed the track in this case you cannot erase the disc.

If you open the disk on your computer, you can delete all of the files on it pretty easily depending on the type.

Find the files from starting in "MY Computer"

They have to be DVD/RW's (rewritables) otherwise you cant erase, some DVD's have an RW next to the DVD etch but that doesn't mean re-writable, you can usually tell by the color of the dye used the re-writeables look different

How do i rewrite over a disc that is full

If you are using a DVD-RW or DVD+RW, you can format the disc by performing "Format". You can format DVD-RW for either video mode recording or VR mode recording. DVD+RW can be format in order to erase all content of the disc.
You may not be able to reformat a disc that is not previously formatted by your recorder an example would be a. DVD disc formatted by PC or another recorder.
Follow these steps to re-write:
Insert a recordable disc.
1 Press [SETUP].
2 Select "DVD Menu",
then press [ENTER].
3 Then select "Format", and
press [ENTER].
4 select "Start", then
press [ENTER].
5 Confirm by selecting "Yes", then press
[ENTER].
Formatting will start.
6 Formatting is completed.
When the disc is ready for you to rewrite to "100%" is indicated.
Formatting 100%

HOW CAN I ERASE A DVD-RW ?

Be sure it's an DVD-RW.

Some DVD's have the logo, but they only write after the first record.

To erase a DVD, you need to use the recorder software.

For most common like NERO, you can see it here, for example:

You can also do it using DVDInfoPro > Erase/Format DVD±RW
