Question about Pioneer PD-M403 6-Disc CD Changer
In the unit is turning on that means the power is coming to the unit. But as you said it turns off after few seconds this indicates the problem with two things.
1) The power wire of the unit is getting short or got loose or not connected properly.
2) The power supply of the board is got weak.So as you turn the unit on it turns on.But due to weak power supply board the power goes off.
So to confirm this fault,.First check the power cord wire of the unit .If the wire looks very old or crimped in between anywhere or got pulled out from the unit or burnt in between. Then that wire has to be replaced. But if the power wire confirms ok.then the unit needs to be disassembled. As its not very hard to disassemble the unit. Its just fitted on screws and internal hidden clips and locks. To detach that clips/locks you require thin and strong knife. For removing screws you require a screw driver. With this 2 tools you can disassemble the unit. Now after disassembly .In the unit you will see the circuit board that board is called power supply board. The board to which the other end of the power wire is connected.Check out on that board. There will be many tiny components seen.Any of the capacitor or ic will be weak and due to this board gets weak and cannot provide proper power. Most probably the faulty capacitor gets leaked from its top or bulged from its top or have burn mark on its side or gets blow out or gets loose from its soldering connection on board.but if this is not noticed on the components then the board needs to be checked by meter and then faulty component needs to be replaced then dry solder whole board ,so if any component which is got loose but actually its ok.Then dry solder will re tight it to the board. Then check. If you are not familiar with doing this repair then local electronics parts repair technician familiar with your units brand model is advisable to do this.It will not be too costly but it will take time to locate fault.
