Changing IP Addres. Is it possible?

If you are using a dynamic IP, You can change your IP address by just resetting the modem.
If you are using a Static IP, You cannot change it. You must contact the network provider and make a request for IP change.
You can visit www.ip-details.com and have an IP lookup to ensure that your IP has really been changed.

I have an avaya 4610 sw that i need to assign to a new extension. The phone currently has an inactive ext that needs to be changed. How do you change the ext?

You can logoff the current extension by hitting the options button, then the next page, then logoff.

Then you can re-logon as a new extension. Then enter the password.

Need to change IP address for Actiontec router for verizon fios

definately you will need to change the IP address.
But you can also change the IP address of the wireless extender.
so instead of changing the IP address of the router, you can change the IP address of the extender.
For that you will need to connect the computer to the Extender.
assign a static IP to the computer 192.168.0.10 and Default gateway 192.168.0.30. that will open the set up page of the extender.
change the IP addres of the extender to 192.168.1.30.
that will help you.

Just bought a laptop and can't get comcast to work with net gear. My son's lap top worked when he lived with me.

It will be one of two things or both - either your computer is not setup for DHCP or your router is using the same IP address as your ISP or both.

To check ISP IP address connect your computer to your modem then: from start => run => CMD (hit enter after this)
a command window opens, type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes.
The line with "IP address" gives you your ISP IP addr.
Compare this with what you get from your router manual if they are the same then do the following:

To configure your computer to use a DHCP IP address, go to the Control panel => network connections => Properties (right click on your default connection) => double click Internet protocol (From general tab) => (a new window pops up) from the general tab ensure that "obtain an IP address automatically" is selected.

To change the IP address of your router check your manual and do the following:
IP Addr => 10.10.1.1
Sub net mask => 255.255.0.0
Default gateway => IP address from your ISP
Make sure to the router is set to act as a DHCP server.

You should be up and running.
