If you take the face off of the head unit, you will see a reset button. Using a pen, press the button to reset the unit. The first time that you power the unit up, the volume will be at level 12. If this does not work, there is a fuse that is on the power cable of the unit. To get to this, you will need to remove the unit from the dash. You will also want to check the fuse panel in your vehicle to ensure that the fuse which operates the radio is in working condition.
On some units you have to hold in the selection button for 3-5 seconds. This should bring you to a menu that allows you to change bass power and your tremble. Also on some units you will find fade balance in this menu as well.
Go to www.walmart.com and type in the search box XM Radio. Walmart carries a XM Docking Station that is capatable with most units. FYI though XM has merged with Sirrus so XXM will still work but will soon be unbuyable.
I have the same deck and a very similar problem. Mine was stuck in the out position and would beep and move a little but there was no lights or music. I called Alpine and they told me that sometimes the inner sleeve around the deck will pinch the unit a little. I took my unit out of the dash and sure enough the plastic face plate came loose and moved about 1/32 of an inch when I slide it back in place and turned the power back on it worked perfectly. Hope this helps.
Sorry man here's what i pulled from the internet- Crutchfield sells these: Note: The MRA-D550 requires a compatible head unit for
setup and control, it cannot be used without one. The current list of
compatible head units includes (but is not limited to): IVA-D300,
IVA-D310, IVA-D900, IVA-D901, DVA-9860, and DVA-9965.
THIS IS CAUSED BY AN SHORTAGE OF POWER TO THE UNIT. IF THE UNIT ISNT GETTING THE REQUIRED AMOUNT OF VOLTAGE IT WILL SHUT DOWN TO PROTECT THE UNIT. THE ISSUE CAN BE FIXED BY PULLING THE UNIT OUT AND DOUBLE CHECKING THE 12V CONSTENT WIRING TO MAKE SURE ITS NOT LOOSE. IF THAT DOESNT SEEM TO BE THE ISSE THEN ITS A INTERNAL ISSUE AND WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE TO BE SENT IN FOR REPAIRS. SO FAR I HAVE DELT WITH 3 OF THESE ISSUES ON HAND AND ITS ALL BEEN LOOSE WIRING.
