Question about Northwestern Bell 35828-M2 Cordless Phone

1 Answer

Searching for a phone with special feature

I would love to find somebody who can answer this question. No one seems to know, especially the young savy technicians. This goes back before your time, but I think there should be an answer....
We are currently using a very old cordless Northwestern Bell phone-2.4 GigaHz, model no. 36240. Our building has at least two phone lines and from my land phone I can transfer any outside call to any extension no. in our building. The cordless rings in on one line. It can be answered and with several buttons pushed (Flash, 7, four digit extension no.) the cordless can ring into any extension. BEcause of its age, I would like to replace the cordless. HERE IS THE QUESTION: Our there any cordless phones(not cell phones) sold today that have that transferring capability? I know cordless phones can transfer to their own handsets, but I have not found one that can transfer to other phone numbers. The last cordless I bought I thought at least once it was connected to the outside line, another phone on that same line could then transfer that call. But that isn't possible either. Does anyone have this answer? If that option is no longer available, why?
I will be very surprised if I ever hear back from anyone with a satisfactory answer. :)

Yes you can buy cordless phones with transfer capabilities. We have several of them at where I work.

The unidens are some of the better phones on the market. All we have to do with them is when we receive a call is hit the talk button again and dial the number we wish to send the call to.

Any of the unidens should have this feature you could ask the salesman if you can plug them in to test.

An example of a good phone is:

I don't know how this happened, but any button I touch automatically calls a specific phone number, even if I use the intercom... It seems that the phone has been programmed to dial this number by...

Hi Evygal,

There is nothing to worry about it because this phone supports a speed dialing feature , which means that you can program the numbers in a way that just pressing them in a specific way usually for some more time than a usual press of a button will automatically enable the speed dial function and the phone will call the number that has been programmed on the digit.

A good idea to not face this problem is to quickly remove the finger off the button when you press it , because keeping it for long , just as long as one sec can enable this speed dialing feature.

Hope that helps ..:) Let me know in case you have any queries, would love to help you.

Time won't set

The problem is not the phone, it is the modem. If your phone is connected to a modem you will have to set the time zone on the modem then it will reset and so fix the phone.

I have 00:DND on my display and cannot get it off. This is keeping me from answering the phone by picking up the receiver.

Do NOT pick up the receiver - Push the "FEATURE" button - Dial 60 - Push the "FEATURE" button again - this worked for me. Good Luck!

How to setup caller id?

Have your tech look again. A keyword search of CALLER ID in the pdf should explain it all, especially page 158 of a 6.1 CICS manual.

You need 2 things to make it work. One is that your phone has to be ringing. Two is that Under Telco Features in programming for your set is a CALLER ID set which is No by default.

Of course, FEAT 811/812 will work after the fact.

How do I stop it playing 'Love Me Tender'?

Is this where the simple answer like walking up to the phone and pressing "1" stops it?

If that works and you are connected to a TA-824, you can turn that feature off in programming.

Just walk into a back room and look at the part number of the master cabinet and post back.
