Question about Alpine Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

Hi I have just fitted an Alpine CDE113BT Unit into my Citroen Xsara Picasso. After tuning in the presets as described in the manual and using the radio for an hour I was disappointed to find that afetr turning the unit off and on again the preset buttons are all untuned again. I read somewhere about having to cross over a red and yellow wire. Is that the case? regards Chris Legg

There's 2 power sources for the head unit. (Yellow and Red wire)
The red wire should be connected to a switchable 12 volt source (turns on and off with the ignition switch) this circuit is for the operation of the head unit.
The yellow wire should be connected to a constant 12 volt source (not switched on or off), this circuit maintains the head units memory and clock settings when the unit is shut off.

    Hi Gozer

I think I understand the problem now and should be ale to fix it in the morning. Many Thanks for that.

My next question is to do with the remote stearing column control. The Xsara Picasso has such a control in place. Are there any cable adapters available that will connect the REM socket on the radio to the existing control block. If not, is it possible to make one up from parts or do I have to buy a dedicated unit from Alpine?

Unfortunately you'll have to use a unit from Alpine or there's another company PAC. The radio connection is universal but the interface with the car is unique, so you'll have to match the steering wheel control adaptor to your vechicle.
