Your calculator's software is probably corrupt. I suggest you buy a new calculator

Most likely that the batteries are drained (depleted). Change the MAIN batteries (AAA), then chnage the backup battery. Avoid letting the calculator go with main and backup batteries removed.

My TI-84 plus SE suddenly stopped working. Replace batteries (Both types) and it still does not work

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

If this doesn't do it, please reply to this post and we can go from there.

I am inserting a copy of an earlier post to a question similar to yours. Ignore the steps you already tried. I will add a few comments at the end just for you case. Please read the post till the end.

A Try this before thinking of repairs.

  1. Push the ON button.
  2. Even if you see nothing, press the [2nd] key and release it.
  3. Press and HOLD the UpArrow key until the screen darkens.
  4. You may have to keep pressing UpArrow for a little while before you see anything.
B If that does not work
  1. Remove one of the AAA batteries.
  2. Press and hold the [CLEAR] key.
  3. While holding [CLEAR], reinsert the AAA battery and then
  4. turn the calculator on.
  5. The calculator should display the message "RAM Cleared".
  6. Release the [CLEAR] key and then press it one more time to remove the message "RAM Cleared".
C. Third option

  1. Remove batteries including the backup battery for 5minutes.
  2. After the 5 minute period, reinsert all of the batteries and
  3. turn the calculator on.
  4. Adjust the contrast if necessary.
D. Last option

The last option requires the reinstallation of the system. So to use it you must download the TIConnect 1.6 software from education.ti.com. You must have the TI USB SilverLink or the TI Black serial cable ready. You must be connected to the Internet.
  1. Remove one of the AAA batteries.
  2. Press and hold the [DEL] key.
  3. While holding [DEL], reinsert the AAA battery and then
  4. turn the calculator on.
  5. The calculator should display "Waiting...Please install calculator software now".
  6. Connect the TI Connectivity cable between the computer and the calculator.
  7. Click on Start >> Programs >> TI Tools >> TI Connect >> TI OS Downloader.
  8. Follow the on-screen directions to reinstall the calculator's OS.
If the message "Error! Press any key to turn unit off. Then turn unit back on." appears on the graphing calculator, quickly, remove one battery from the calculator and reinstall it while the transfer is taking place.

You have several ways to connect the calculator
  • Serial Black cable that used to ship with the TI 83 Plus. It connects to a serial port on a computer and to the I/O port on the calculator. It requires the Graph Link software available on the TI web site (Downloads, Software and Apps, Connectivity)
  • USB Silver Link cable. It connects a USB port on the computer to the the I/O port on the calculator. It requires the TI connectivity software, also available on the TI Web site.
  • A USB mini A to mini B cable to connect two units.
  • An I/O cable to connect two calculators through their I/O ports.
If you do not have any type of USB cable (SilverLink, Mini A/B to Standard USB) you cannot use the USB option. You can however try to connect your calculator to a similar one through the I/O ports. If you have the I/O cable you can transfer the OS of a working calculator.

Another solution is to buy the accessory cables from the TI Online store. The I/O cable is not very expensive ( about 5 $) and the TI silver Link about 25 $. If you are a student, ask fellow students who have other types of TI calculators (TI 83Plus, Ti84 Plus, Voyage 200 PLT, TI 92/92 Plus) to lend you their TI Silver Link cable. Ask your teacher.

TI-83 Plus ram cleared message when turned on

It calculator tells you Ram Cleared each time you turn it on, the most likely reason is that the backup battery is depleted. Its role is to keep the memory modules electrically refreshed when calculator is turned off. If the backup battery is dead, the memory is erased when you turn calculator OFF. Main batteries no longer supply power and the contents of the memory are cleared.
  1. Check that main batteries are good and inserted in calculator.
  2. Turn calculator OFF.
  3. Replace the backup battery.
  4. Turn calculator ON.
  5. Press the [CLEAR] key to erase the "Ram Cleared" message.

Every time I turn on the calculator "Ram cleared" comes up. How do I stop this?

Hello,
It is possible that the backup battery is drained. If you change it, make sure that the main batteries are good. Do not remove main batteries while changing the backup battery.
Hope it helps.

TI- 92 crashed

Hello,
I would not let it lie to rest yet. Play again with the contrast: Lower it so
Press [diamond] key the green one beteen the [ON] and [2nd].
If that does not work it may be because by removing the batteries while the calculator is [ON] you might have pressed inadvertently a button on the keyboard, and that can lead to erasure of the OS. Besides, you cannot change all batteries at the same time:Backup batterie should be in and in good working order when you change main batteries. Similarly, main batteries should be in place when you change backup batteries.

There may yet be a chance to get it back to life and that is to install the operating system through a computer.
You need the cable (TI SilverCable from Staples or Office Depot).
You need to download The TI Connect Software from education.ti.com and install it on the computer.

After installing the software on the computer, run TI connect, then connect the calculator to the computer, and press the [ON] key. Usually it turns on as soon as you plug the TISilvercable into the calculator port.

In the TIConnect window there are several icons (TI device explorer, TI Screen Captrure ) You may try to use them to see if the calculator responds. If it does you calculator is not totally damaged).
Whatever the results of the foregoing actions, you should try to install the OS.

At the top of the TIconnect windows there are 4 round buttons (2 green, 2 gray). Click the Update button. (you must be connected to the Internet) If it works, I congratulate you. If it does not, I have no idea what you might do next.

Hope it helps.

try changing the back up battery also. This generally helps. The next time you change your batteries, change them one at a time. don't take them all out at once. This won't happen if you do it like that.
