Question about Dell Ethernet Card Network Adapter

Internet connection going on and off,on the computer icon that shows that i'm connected,it has a red X then a yellow triangle with and exclaimation point in it then after that a blue shield.......i was told by hughsnet it wasn't their a problem on their end but my LAN card was showing bad......so i replaced it and it's still doing the same thing....any ideas?

The symptoms you refer also could be wrong cable (cable with loosy contacts). Have you tried with another cable?

Please try the following solutions:
1. Make sure that if there is a hardware wifi switch, or a keyboard command for it, that it is turned on.
2. If you can not connect to a wireless network at your house, try plugging it in to connect to the internet that way.
3. If your computer recognizes neither of these, and you do not see a network icon in the tray at the bottom of your screen, make sure the drivers are installed; right click 'my computer', click 'properties', and then click 'device manager'; any devices with missing drivers will show up with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark next to them.

Connecting new HP desktop - hardwiring into CISCO Valet Plus. Internet will not come up. Take the cable and plug back into old computer; internet comes up just fine. Any ideas?


Make sure that the plug is in thr correct port of the router. The ethernet cable going from the modem to the router should be plugged into a port labeled WAN or Internet. Then, after that's done, unplug your modem for about 30 seconds or so to delete the MAC address saved in the modems memory. Modems can only "speak" to one device, and they always remember the address of the device they were "talking" to. You need to clear that memory out so that the modem can address the new device, which is the new router in your case. hope that this was helpful.

My toshiba laptop does not work on a lan. The icon


When you look at the Manage Network Connections link on the Network and Sharing Center you do not see
Local Area Connection?
Do you see Wireless Network connection?
You need to check the device manager to see if the card has been disabled.

It should show two entries with no red or yellow marks. One for wireless (WLAN) and one for wired (Ethernet)

Toshiba satellite wifi not working


Hello
You might have physically switched on the adapter, but in Windows it is still disabled.

In Windows XP, click the start button, look for CONNECT TO (don't go in the all programs menu), and click SHOW all connections. A window opens showing all the connections available. If the wireless connection icon displays a red X crossing it, it is disabled.

To reenable it,

Point the mouse cursor to the wireless connection and right click mouse button. Click enable or repair.

One question though. If your computer is toshiba, you must have installed the configFree software that came with it.

If so, look to the left right of the task bar and click the ConfigFree Icon. Choose Connectivity doctor. It will diagnose your connections. If one is disabled or has a problem, a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark ! will appear on the connection.

Use the device setting thumbnail, select your WIFI adapter . A button at the right bottom side, will show either Enable (if your adapter is disabled), or disable i(f adapter is enabled). With that button, you can toggle between enable and disable. After that click the close button, and hopefully you will be able to surf the web.

Can't connect to internet


You are using an air card AND a network card? If this is the case, it sounds like your cards(or more specific the software) are battling for who gets internet access.

Or do you mean your air card is a wireless card? If you just have a single wireless device attached then check with your device manager and make sure everything is detected(right click on my computer, go to properties, go to devices/hardware, go to device manager). If anything is missing, or has the yellow triangle exclaimation point, then there is something wrong with your drivers.

If everything is working, then it might just be a simple wrong network setting. By default it might be trying to connect to the wrong wireless network. click on your networking device, click on connect to a network and then make sure you are attempting to connect to the right network. If you can't see your network, then there might be a problem with your router or router's settings.

Internet connection


Solution:

i) on the bottom-right-coner of computer desktop(system tray) you will computer like(double)icon showing the connectivity to internet, see whether it is showing a red corss(X) symbol on it if it is so then there is no internet connectivity,  other wise you will see a movement or graphic on the icon, if it is so then there is internet connectivity.

ii) if there is red corss(X) symbol on it try remove the internet connection(wire) and replace it and if you use an internet service provider which require id, password try to enter them after installing sofware provided by internet service provider.


iii) otherwise contact ur internet service provide to make sure internet connection is working perfectly from his side.... and he would assist in better what would be the problem....


iv) try to change you browser, switch some other browser like opera, firefox, .......not Internet Explorer....

Internet connection solutions
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Test the jack.
  3. Test the equipment.
    1. Try a different jack that you know works.
    2. Try a different cable that you know works.
  4. Check your computer settings.
  5. Renew your IP Address
    1. [x] Windows Vista
      1. Look for your Ethernet card:
        1. Right-click on My Computer from the Start Menu or on the desktop.
        2. Left-click on Properties.
        3. Click on Device Manager on the left side under "Tasks".
        4. Expand the Network Adapters and look for any yellow exclamation points. Make sure a card is listed.
        5. If there are exclamation points, or if there is no card listed, you need to reinstall the card.
      2. Set your IP address to configure Automatically (through DHCP):
        1. Go to the Control Panel in your computer (in the Start Menu).
        2. Go to Network & Sharing Center.
        3. Under "Network", go to Local Area Connection and select "View Status". In new window, choose Properties at the bottom.

I have loaded the software for a WRT54G2 on the new desktop. As instructed the data for setting up my laptop was saved to a jump-drive and installed successfully on my laptop. When I try to get online...


The only problem here is the WEP/WPA key ios not correct , so better double check the key and try tp reconnect to the wireless network..
