SOURCE: grease stains on dark clothing
i have some good news for you, its n greas. what it is, is built up detergen between the tubs. its common on front loads. its due to to much detergen. waht i recomend to all my customers is not to sue more then 4 table spoons of detergen for a wash. now how to get rid of it, take some POWDERED dishwaher detergent and run a HOT cycle do this about 3 time and that should fix the problem. hope this helped .

HI! I just posted a question to "justask.com" and am having the exact same problem. I paid $9 for this answer and was happy to pay it because I now know what it is! From what I have been told, it is from the transmission in your washer and will cost at least $400 to fix it (that's just a ballpark figure... I have a Frigidaire and that was the figure I was given). So, basically, it would be more cost effective for you to purchase a new washer.

I have this problem on my front loading washer too, but only when washing white clothes. I have just read that perhaps the inlet hose is disintegrating from the hot water being too hot. The hose disintergration can cause black greasy stains on the clothes. I am going to check out the inlet hose when I get home. Hopefully this is the problem... I am sure a new inlet hose is a lot cheaper than a new transmission or new bearings. BTW, my washer in only 18 months old.

SOURCE: my washer stains my clothes.
The brown stains are likely coming from the felt drum seal. The OEM adhesive is tar based - and after time and use - breaks down.
You'll need a new felt seal - and the adhesive that is used should be silicone based... eliminating the brown streaks.
Thanks for using FixYa
