Followed steps on this blog, but I have sound and no picture.  I get purple and black vertical lines and that is all.  The audio works through the TV with both satellite and dvd, but no picture.

Should I just kick it in and toss it on the street.

This is most likely due to 2 problems -Temperature or a bust capacitor,

1. There is a simple trick...just warm the back of the TV with a hair dryer for 5-7 mins after you have unplugged the TV. Look for the little areas of holes in the back panel of TV. Use these as your guide at where to use hairdryer., but don't hold the dryer too close(say 5-6inches away). (Make sure the dryer is on High heat). If the TV doesn't turn on after you have heated it up (like it tries to come on but then turns off) you need to unplug the TV again, this resets it. And repeat those steps till it works. Reseting the TV after it fails to turn on is the key. Also, just leave the TV on. Don't turn in off. Since it is LCD, it doesn't take much power...only a few bucks extra a month for your utility bill.

2. You can also try this..if you unplug the TV, and hold in the power button while plugging it back in, this will reset the TV, and sometimes it comes on.

3. If you want to go in for a long term solution, you can easily replace the whole power board (should be about $20 or so), or just change the faulty capacitors. You can make out which are faulty, because their caps will be swollen on top. Here's a pic
t.v flatscreen (INSIGNIA) - 017809a.jpg
Check the specifications of the faulty capacitors, and get the replacements from your local electronics shop. If you are comfortable with this, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers to G-E-N-T-L-Y pull out the defunct capacitors. Once that is done, solder in the new capacitors carefully. If are unsure how to do this, try to get a friend who knows how to do this kinda stuff do it for you.

PS. The capacitors are usually 680 - 1000 micro farad and 35V. however, if you dont find 35V, you could use a 50V as well. They will be slightly larger, but you should be able to get them to fit in.

You can buy the capacitors online from HERE or HERE if you wish..They cost $0.068 - $0.85 each depending on the model.

Hope that helps...Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

Sled4668w tv scans channals but always shows 0 found hooked upto dish network

This Orion TV made by Sansui was bought by me two weeks ago. It didn't last a week. The sound was terrible, picture was great, and it wouldn't hook up to soundbar without hearing a long delay in sound (A/V or Digital output tried two). I contacted their customer support twice, they were awesome. Told me this model has know issues and said to just bring it back. I found another TV for same price ($399) and same size (46) but it's LCD not LED, better picture and great sound! It is Insignia don't remember the model #. Bought at Best Buy (their house brand).

How do I set up a ps2 to a insignia 26" flat screen tv?

What's great about it: Simple hookup, sound and picture are very good, wide picture is a must, and yes a good price and better protection What's not so great: None I have just bought this beautiful Insignia TV set earlier this afternoon. My uncle bought it for me, because my old Magnavox 19 inch television set is almost at its DOA. The old TV didn't get the picture immediately once I turned that on--I only waited like over three minutes or more for the picture to come back on. But this Insignia TV is really good. 26 inches, combined with a DVD Player, and it really has some cinematic quality. The hookup was quite simple, but the hardest part of all was to autoscan once I turned it on for the first time. But that was no longer a problem, because my landlord showed me how to autoscan. Just simply press the menu button, and select the autoscan. Once the autoscan is complete, the cable is like back on, and it looks better than my old TV I had for almost 14 years. I went to my local Best Buy in the mall, and one of the clerks recommended it to me. Ironically, my uncle has the same exact one that I have right now. It really fits in my living room on top of the TV Table. It's HD all the way, and I love it. Despite the price, it's an awesome TV and excellent quality to boot and it really delivered. Everything else was all set and it didn't require any unnecessary reinstallations with my VCRs, Playstation 2, cable converter, and of course, my other DVD Player. Great TV, for a not too bad of a price and since it's flatscreen, I would probably have enough room to put my Playstation 2 next to it, and like my new TV my PS2 can probably fit there without much incident. Nothing really bad. It seemed good enough for me and my twin sister, and it seemed good enough for my uncle who bought it for himself before he bought it for me. The price was too much for me--more if you can count an extra $70 for the extended warranty plan. But other than that, it was worth it. It was definitely worth it. SInce it's widescreen, I will want to keep it widescreen all the way--unless I can zoom in for the most important parts, especially if I can do it while playing a tape in my VCR (seperate from the TV). If you want a good quatlity TV with superior cinematic quality, and you can get closer views with everything you ever dreamed of getting for your house or apartment, or wherever else you live, then The Insignia 26 inch HDTV set is for you

If a problem like this should develop within the retailer's return period, it is recommended that the TV be returned for an exchange.

If the LCD is less then a year old, still can be repair under manufacturers warranty.
I would suggest to contact the vendor or manufacturers to get it fix under warranty.
If you need parts for the LCD or have then repair, you can write to jah2mil@hotmail.com

SOUND BUT NO PICTURE 46 DAY OLD INSIGNIA.........

If you just bought it, take it back to Best Buy. It has a standard warranty, they should repair it.

Nothing works like they used to nowadays, in my experience Insignia is a good brand. You may have just gotten a bad apple.

No sound on my 32'' Insignia LCD HDTV

I have a question? Do you move your Television frequently, OR do you unplug it frequently when it's not in use? I have found that doing either or both of those things can bring on problems, especially audio problems.

I've had the disappearing sound problem twice with my Element FLX-2610. This latest time I was stumped because the full scan didn't resolve the problem. And of course, the sparse manual that comes with the TV contains no troubleshooting advice at all.

But I did find a suggestion on another sveral other sites: Reset the TV. You might have a small reset button (like you would find on a DSL modem) somewhere on your TV but there is a manual way to do it two. Whichever way you do, MAKE SURE to disconnect every single device (yep, it's a pain) and UNPLUG the TV before doing this.

To reset with a reset button, disconnect devices and unplug the TV. Depress the reset button for 5 seconds. Reconnect devices, then plug in the TV.

Manual Procedure:
Disconnect all devices
Unplug the Television
Using the on/off button on the Television (NOT on the remote), depress and hold the button for 5 seconds.
Reconnect the devices, then plug in the TV.

Unless something has shorted out or burned up inside, this resetting, as a last resort, should fix the audio problem. Worked like a charm for me!

Good Luck!
Nena

On a LCD TV either the lamps might not be coming on or there is a video problem. If unplugging it for 30 seconds then trying again doesn't bring it back then expert help is needed.
