Question about GPS Devices

4 Answers

Good Morning I have a garmin nuvi 660 purchased a year ago. I love the GPS but recently when I set a destination it said "not enough memory" . The problem got progressivly worse until now it only turns on and gets to the disclaimer screen. Problem is that it wont accept when you touch the "agree", and wont go off that screen now so its pretty much usless. I have asked around and someone told me that i need to download a new map? thankyou

yeo, did a master reset and deleted some of the destinations a month ago when it was still operational. Complicating matters - I am unable to locate the cables and manual that came with the product. Thanks

Hi,

After reading your problem i believe that you will have to recaliberate your garmin so that it can respond properly. So please refer the pg. no.42 and give it a try and also try reseting it.

Goodluck,

Do you have a lot of destinations programmed into it? If so, you may indeed have too much info on it and it doesn't have room for the memory. This could also slow the device down and cause it to freeze up. Two things I would do is delete anything that you don't need and do a software update off of the company's website.

Let me know if you need further help

Thank you for using Fixya and Good Luck

I would plug your Garmin into your PC using its supplied cables and attempt to do a software upgrade available at the Garmin Website.

Will a garmin gtm 20 charger work with a garmin nuvi 660 gps

Yes! The GTM-20 is a charger with a built-in traffic receiver. The charger plugs into the cradle for the Nuvi 660 and then the Nuvi 660 snaps into the cradle.

However to receive traffic with the GTM-20, you will need to purchase a subscription, either yearly or lifetime. The traffic receiver receives traffic information from FM radio broadcast stations, which broadcast traffic data.

My Garmin 1490 LMT goes to white screen with "press dot" only its not to calibrate it bc no matter how many times you push it it wont go, it wont get out of that screen so I can't do...

The white screen indicates are internal error. It keeps telling the unit to go into calibration mode. The item will need to be sent to garmin for repair. 1-800-800-1020. If your unit was purchased recently (less than a year) it is covered under Garmins limited Warranty.

Nuvi 660 not working

1-Check if you have 500 waypoints, Thats the maximum.

Be sure you delete the recents search via the menu. the recent use when you did a search for a place or adress, just delete.

2- could you confirm both of you if you did not add any other maps into the units ?

3- How many MP3 you have into the GARMIN files ?

Need this to answer your question properly ?

It should not happen if you did not overload the unit 660.

Everything has a maximum who is published by the manufacturer.

Best regards
