Question about LG DLG5932W Gas Dryer

1 Answer

I was drying some clothing on 'air fluff' and noticed a strong gas odor. I immediately shut off the appliance and cut off the gas line. I check the connections and they seemed fine. I then put the gas dryer on again and didn't smell anything. Does my smelling the gas this one time represent a problem or a risk?

How do I look for mathane gas

If you detect a strong gas odor, follow these tips:
  • Do not attempt to locate the leak.
  • Do not turn on or off any electrical appliances.
  • Do not smoke or use any open flames.
  • Leave the house and, from a safe distance, call the utility company and 9-1-1.
  • When digging outside, if a natural gas line is damaged, call the utility immediately. Do not attempt to repair the line..

    Hello Kevin;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

When you run your dryer on fluff you are not using heat. The burning smell is when you use normal dry and the lint starts to burn. This will shut your unit down.

You just need a good cleaning. Nothing major. Send me your model number and I will help you.

I have turned off main gas line to dryer and have checked that and the connecting line to dryer and see no leakage but I still have an odor of gas in dryer itself. what should I check next?

check the line inside leading to the flame igniter and glo bar, how did u check for gas leak? just smell or sight? try using a mixture of water and dish detergent by spraying it on the lines while gas is on, and if u see bubbles u got gas leak?

Hope you would have cleaned fridge and started using immediately. Don't do it.
Power off. Takeslightly wet cloth (dipped in soap water) andclean all portion. And after 5 minutes clean with dry cloth. Keep fridge door opened for minimum 6 hours to allow fresh air passing into fridge compartment. And then place foodsin airtight containers to prevent the transfer of odors. Now close fridge door and plug power.

    Hope, it's helpful.

Run a load empty on the hottest setting with a cup of bleach.

Then, after finished using the machine each day, leave the door open for a few hours to allow the rubber seal to dry.

Maytag gas dryer doesn't dry properly

SOUNDS LIKE A RESTRICTION IN THE VENT. CHECK AIR FLOW WHERE VENT EXITS HOUSE. IF IT IS NOT STRONG, INSPECT VENT LINE BEHIND DRYER. IS IT CRUSHED OR CLOGGED WITH LINT? THIS WILL CAUSE DRYER TO SHORT CYCLE. IF VENT IS NOT CLOGGED, CHECK AIR FLOW AT BACK OF DRYER WITH VENT DISCONNECTED. IS AIR FLOW STRONG? OF NOT, PROBLEM IS WITH BLOWER.

you should clean filter after every load. If dryer is getting unusually hot (cabinet), then you may have a plugged vent line. Check where vent is on the outside and see if plenty of air is coming out of it. If not it is plugged up

    Gas Odor coming from oven

The reason you can't smell it when the oven is on is because the gas is being ignited. DO NOT USE YOUR STOVE until you get this fixed by a gas fitter. You have a gas leak, which is either a loose fitting or faulty valve or line.

Call your appliance dealer IMMEDIATELY or you could have an explosion!!!!

Check your venting, this could be causing the thermostats to pop and shut down the flame. The complete venting line.
