Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

My HP C6150 All in One printer. Was printing just fine...then at once it lost the ability to print in black. A word document has to have the font color changed to, let's say navy blue, and it prints that. Red, any other color, it just quit printing in black. I've selected clean the print heads and the printer when through that procedure. I've replaced the black ink cartridge. I've cleaned the contacts on both the printer and ink cartridge. NOTHING. I'm ready to use this printer as a boat anchor! HELP!

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!

Please do cross check that the newly installed ink cartridge is genuine and is installed properly in the printer... Try performing a reset by the following procedure...
1. Unplug the power cord from both ends of the printer.
2. Wait for 2 minutes
3. Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet. Do not reconnect the other end to the back of the printer
4. While the other end of the power cord is still unplugged, hold the pound (#) and six (6) keys on the printer.
5. While holding pound and six, reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer and after two seconds release the two keys.
6. Wait until the printer will turn on. If not, press the power button to turn it on.

If the problem still persists, then it seems that the print head assembly got alignment problem, and need to visit the repair center for physical repairing of the unit or buy a new unit....

Hope this clears the picture a bit,

Please do RATE the solution, if this helps you,

Concerned.

Black ink will not print on Photosmart C6150; Ink

I'd do the reboot of the printer.Turn it off, unplug for 60 seconds, plug it back in,turn it back on and see if the black will work. After plugging back in it should clean the print head and then you can do a test page to make sure.

Printing in a huge font with outlined lettering

More than likely this a "Fontcall" error from within the application.

What normally happens is that you design a document in Word and select a font that is resident on the PC but has not been downloaded to the printer.

When the document goes to the driver, the driver sees the call for a font that it does not have in its index table and then does a :Best Fit" algorithm.

The output is usually very unexpected.

As a quick test, do a "<ctrl>+a" to select the entire document. Then change the font to Arial. Now see if the font on the screen matches the font on the printout.

If it does, either make sure you can get a "Soft Font" rendering of the font you want. Soft fonts will download automatically to the printer.

Or you can check with a company such as Font Mongerer to see if they have a printer font that matches the screen font. Once you purchase the font and download it to the printer you should be fine.

How do i change font size on HP 6110 xi printer

The manual doesn't list scaleable font size as a feature. You will probably have to set your font size in the document you are making.

Try reinstalling your display drivers. you'll be surprised how dependent printers are on display drivers. Try changing the font as well.

Do you get any error messages once you click the print button? is it sending to the correct printer?

Won's print pdf files

Trouble with the HP Laserjet printed output may be solved by using the following settings (or similarly named ones): "Use raster Graphics" (instead of "Use vector graphics"). This may fix the problem of "reversed" text (white on black background) not printing, as well as other problems. "Download TrueType Fonts as bitmap soft fonts" (select "bitmap" instead of "outline" or "graphics"). This may remove the overlapping of text on the printed document. "Graphics dithering" select "coarse" or "fine" (instead of "none"). This selection may improve the quality of images contained in the document. You can find all these settings in your printer properties. Go to File, Print, click Preferences, in Printing Preferences, click one by one all the top options, and change one of the top solutions, one at the time, checking your printing output. Always check if you have the latest version of Adobe Reader Program. If not download the latest version from Adobe, it's free. Is this the first time that you have the problem? or with the same printer (HP 4si), did you were able to print PDF files in the past?

Are you printing from MS Word? What software package are you using? Each printer is different and some require software settings.
