Question about Nikon COOLPIX L18 Digital Camera
Have used this camera for over a year, no problems. Got back from vacation downloaded all the photos no problem. But since I have a new computer, and don't have it all tied together, I didn't erase the originals. So today I took a few photos, no problem, then I got the warning "This card cannot be used" So i figured the memory card was full, so I attached it to the computer and it won't download, and I get the same warning.
This happens when the SD card is locked from he button that itis placed on the right side...or if the card was damaged..or from some reason or an error need to be formatted again ...My advice is to see if it is not locked...and if it is not..try to save all that you can by downloading them with a cable from the camera if they are readable in the camer a...and after that format it again ..If you already have the pictures somewhere and you do not need to save them ..just format the camera if it is not a case of being locked physically from the button ..

No need to worry. It's just that as your computer is new so you will have to install the driver (the software that came with the camera) once again.
If you have the CD then install it from there or you can download it from here.( Nikon Transfer)
If you are still unable to download the pics from the camera then the best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.
Good luck and have a nice day.
Thanks for using Fixya.
