The D60 operates as SLRs have operated for half a century, showing the image through an optical viewfinder. Only more recent dSLRs have the LiveView capability allowing you to use the LCD monitor for this. Currently the D5000 is the lowest-priced Nikon with this capability.

SOURCE: i use first time nikon d60.

it would depend on the lighting. you can lower down your shutter speed, or change the white-balance or aperture on the camera. make sure that your camera is set on manual. hit me back on the results.

SOURCE: Overexposed photos on a nikon D60 in sunlight

You could set the white balance to the full sun setting. You could set the ISO to a lower number. You could set the "exposure compensation" to a lower number.

My Nikon D60 has a little screen with camera information in front of each photo which I try to playback for viewing. How can I get rid of it?

Hi Paula,

Press the UP / DOWN arrows (on the wheel to the right of the display) while displaying an image to cycle thru the display options until you get what you want. Press LEFT / RIGHT arrows to advance / rewind images in the display.

Good luck!

Removing the wallpaper picture from my Nikon D60

To change the Info display format, follow the instructions in the "Info Display Format" section of the manual (page 120 in my copy). If you simply want to change the wallpaper image to one of your own, follow the instructions under "Wallpaper" (page 122 in my copy).

If you need a manual, you may download a copy from here.

I cannot get the information display off the viewer panel of my Nikon D60 can you assist?

You can get rid of the information screen by pressing the [i] button at the bottom left. However you'll still have to use the viewfinder to take your photos. Nikon didn't allow the LCD to be used for LiveView until they introduced the D3 and D300 a year after the D60.

I want the photo to display on the screen after the photo is taken. It seems to take 5 or more seconds before it is displayed.

Enter the cameras menu system and navigate to the icon on the left that looks like a pencil. Press mulit-selecter to right then down to image review then press right again, Choose "on". Exit all Menus and give a try.

I have Nikon D60. The monitor will not display images, but it works for menus, etc. It says it will not display due to current settings, but i cannot find the setting to change it.

The D60 works as SLRs have worked for half a century, using the viewfinder to compose photos. Only recent dSLRs provide the Live View capability, allowing you to use the monitor for that purpose. Nikon introduced this feature with the D3 and the D300. Currently, the least-expensive Nikon with this feature is the D5000.

Nikon d60 does not allow me to view image whilst taking a picture

The D60 does not have a Live View capability. The monitor is used for shooting info, menus, and image reviews. It cannot be used to display the image while shooting. You must use the viewfinder for that, unless you connect the camera to a computer using the Camera Control Pro software from Nikon.

My nikon D60 is taking dark photos.

The only reason the camera will be taking dark photos is when it is under exposing the image taken. This can be due to the exposure compensation set to under expose the metered exposure. Make sure the expsosure compensation is set to '0' or increase it to compensate for the dark photos.

Also inaccurately metering a scene (such as a high contrast scene) can easily fool the meter into under exposing, especially outdoors.

My nikon d60 is starting to take forever to show the picture after taking the photo, and now all the sudden is shows a black box with shooting details on it, i can't get that off!

In your manual you will find how to change the display format (picture only, histogram, etc.). The time it's taking to display your image "might" be that your memory card is getting quite full and you're shooting large images. I shoot a D80 and it uses an SD card. Make sure you but a fast memory card if your camera does not buffer the inage before writing it to your memory card.
