Check its horizontal output section circuit for any loose solder terminals. Resolder all suspected solder terminals by applying little more fresh solder. Replace the horizontal output transistor. If this transistor have some leak, it will overheat within minutes will shut down the picture.
horizontal lines indicates that the vertical section is most likely the defect..a defective deflection yoke could cause this and eventually damage the vertical output ic causing an overloading in the power supply then can caused to shut down
I wouldn't attempt as the capacitors on a tv store around 25000 volts this is more than enough to kill you and they keep there charge even when the tv is off. Either take it to a repair shop or put that money towards buying a new tv - Do not even attempt to open the tv. (It sounds like maybe a tube has gone or the electromagnet that makes the beam move vertically is gone.
You'll have to locate the vertical output IC which should be mounted onto a heatsink, then take out a good magnifier under the printed circuit board and examine the solder connections on the pins of that IC and resolder the ones that are cracked.
